still a bit to scared to be having wiring looms im my motor, but desperate times its worth a try before forking out 350 notes.

yea 350 notes that you could be forking out again in another few years when ya new fans go again ! lol.. hopefully this fix will be more permanent..and its gota be a more efficient way off controling fan speed than running it through a resistor to slow it down

Yeah, my fans were going mental today on the way home from work. Pulsing on and off every few seconds and making a right racket! Has to use aircon though as my motor had been sitting in the sun all day and was like an oven.

350 quid is a total joke for a fix that might only last 20K miles.

We need to lobby Seat for a recall...SeatCupra.net-wide poll to see how many people this has affected?

yea u wanna be carefull it dont blow ur fuse or melt the fuse block.. using ur aircon then ull hav no engine cooling at all....ive not used mine while the slow speed fan aint bin workin..

it dont jus affect SEAT's though its most the volkwagen range too which has got aircon..and i think you can safely say it will affect every motor sooner or later!.. i think its only the high end VW's and Audis that aint affected.. as they use electronic fan controllers allready!

ive been running mine like this for a year although is mainly used for weekends :( - i have the aircon on - although since reading this i dont anymore. Im ordering the part Mutley found i think - **** it, its £80+ but at the end of the days its peace of mind - £80 for the part or £1000+ for replacement of aircon?!

My fans have been like this for about a fortnight, and have been running aircon almost continually (was stuck in a traffic jam on the M6 for 4 hours with aircon running and fans going crazy - no apparent side-effects).

Use the car every day for about 2 hours.

ouch .. and it has bin hot 2day too!..yea eventually the stop starting of the fans on highspeed will make the fuse heat up i beleive.. due to the high start up currents.. id definately keep an eye on the fuse box on top of the battery for any signs of overheating!

Fuse box on battery is fine, checked it at the weekend, clean and tidy.

yea thats the site ive seen before!.. just read it again.. now i wasnt keen on the external resistor fix but it seems someone has now come up with a better solution

http://www.nime.co.uk/fancontrollerinstall.html

this seems like a good fix...looks fairly easy and damm site cheaper.. and hopefully more permanant than even if you replace the fans coz they dont seem to last long!

im guessin it would also fit the leons?..im considering doin this instead lookin at at!

Hi all

Just to confirm, this will definitely fit a Leon.

If anyone else has any questions please do feel free to email us via the website for further information.

Rebecca (who is just off to the Post Office to ship a unit now!)

I'm taking mine into a dealer tomorrow so will see what they say - as for using air con with it happening, my car has always done this (for around 18 months since I purchased it) and I've always had the air con on without any probs, hence why I didn't think anything of it until now.

strange seem some people hav trouble with them burning out the fuses and some dont.. could be how often the car stationary like in ques and at traffic lights and stuff  ive looked at mine.. and i can see what looks like a very slight sign of the fuse gettin hot.. thats why i dont use it now until its fixed.

hope your cars under warrantee then.. else they charge you something like £60 to test your fans and tell you they need replacing at a cost of around £342 lol

that will be mine then .. just got email saying its being dispatched ..lol:funk:
Ah great! It should be with you tomorrow then. [B)]

The link in post 36 of this thread includes quite a lot of discussion about this unit, if anyone else is interested. Tamer initially designed it for his own Golf, MK 4 (incidentally he didn't use his air con between the fan failure and it being fitted as he was worried that it would damage the fans completely...).

He's since sold 7 units and so far we've only heard good things about it (mainly in the link mentioned above!). Very pleased that it's helping other people to avoid paying the repair fees that are being quoted.

Take care

Rebecca

yea i did read about its developement on that other forum..and it sounded just the job..as i dint fancy doin that other resistor mod.. and didnt fancy paying a arm and a leg for new fans that will most probly go again!... very clever but simple lil device taht works and doesnt sound to difficult to install for anyone with half a brain.. its its been great dealing with you too ..thanks alot.. cant wait to get it fitted now.:D

oh bugger  that'll be mine shot too then!! Mine pulse in and out at full speed with the aircon on, but vary rarely use it, so im sure it is ok! fingers crossed! Will do a bit more reading on this i think, would like to know how the nime product goes :) The dealer price is shocking imo.....
