I know for 17's £150 is about right for conti, Goodyear & Dunlop. I noticed some Pirelli sotto for £120 on mytyres. Not as good as the three mentioned but have a very good wet rating which is what you need for winters here in the uk as the snow capabilities not as critical but nice to know you can get about still.
Hankook are really coming good with tyres there not quite in the top 3 overall but they seem to make them (including summer tyres) so they are very good in the wet. There also £10-15 cheaper than the other 3 which can't be bad either.

I bought a pair of infinity winter Heros a couple of winters ago and they are absolute rubbish if there's any moisture on the roads. I always have them on the fronts as they slide so much. Turn the temperature below -5C and there a different tyre! No good for this country though. I've learnt my lesson with cheaper budgets on that one. They were still £160 the pair, but unfortunately it was when there was a winter tyre shortage so had to take what was available.

Having tried the following on my LCR over the last 6 years or so:

225/40/18
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
Toyo Proxes T1-R
Falken FK452
Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta
Pirelli Pzero P Zero Rosso

I opted to fit 4 Dunlop SP Wintersport 4D tyres last November.
I have done 12,000 miles or so and will replace the fronts at the end of the month.
Fronts have around 3.5mm left and rears 6.5mm or so.

I can honestly say that they are the best tyres I have ever used on my car in both winter and summer conditions. The grip they give in the wet is very good. Not really had a great chance to test them in thick snow, but they perform exceptionally well under temps of 7 degrees Celsius.

Well worth a look at if you don’t consider changing your tyres every winter time.

Cheers.

I'm considering getting winter tyres fitted on the LCR and been looking at prices. I guess with the size of the Brembo calipers, the only option is to stick with 18" wheels?

Yeh it is difficult what with the brakes, the way I done it was to fit the winters to my standard alloys and then spent that winter searching for some nice alloys for the summer. Didn't find anything second hand ended up gettin some pro race 1.2 for about £600 from wheelbase I think it was.

Ended up running the pro races with 3mm front and 12mm rear spacers as the brake clearance was less then a mm

Now I like the pro race setup so much I'm holding out for proper snow before the standard alloys and winters go on this year

I brought 4 second hand S3 alloys (17") off eBay for £130 for my LCR, plastidipped them matt black for £30, and sourced 4 part worn Pirelli 225/45 17 Snowsports for £120. Have lasted 3 years so far. Well worth it.
