Yep our Cupra is still leaking, front passenger door has always been the worst but rear off side passenger door also leaks and very occasionally you see the odd weep from the others.

All leak from inside the door through the interior trim at the bottom.

Luckily our Cupra is garaged every night without fail so although the carpet gets slightly damp we don't get puddles.

I must admit we have been sitting on this problem now for too long (house decorating, work etc.....). Its time to write to our local garage (again), Seat UK and Seat Headquarters.

Does anybody think Top Gear or Driven might be interested in this little thread? Perhaps Seat might take a bit more notice then?

I know that a few of us have written to Seat UK to express our concerns. It IS possible for the dealer to fix, at least I think so, (I have to keep checking my car to see if it has truly been fixed) but I am not sure if the problem or the fix is exactly the same for everyone.

I have mentioned to Seat that we of course have the option of trying to interest consumer groups and industry media if the problems are not resolved, but I think we all want to avoid negative publicity for a car we are, at some time, going to want to sell on.

My letter should be with them now, and I have asked for a response within 7 days. If it is not forthcoming and certainly if my car starts leaking again, then I will be on to legal advice regarding rejecting the car (it is only 3 months old) and I will try to draw the attention of groups willing to publicise the problems.

In the meantime, keep genuine new compaints posted to this thread. Seat are aware of this site, they are aware of the complaints and they have seen this thread, so let's hope they also see sense!

Keep the faith.

Hi Guys,

My front passenger door leaks slightly into the front footwell and it is hardly ever opened.

I have noticed on the drivers door sill that I do get a build up of water after it has been raining but this drains out when I open the door.

Never seen anyone complain of leaking doors on a Teledo. The Leon is based on the Teledo & shares the same doors (I think). Can anyone explain why?

I have spoken to a few Teledo owners & they have no problems!

Hi Cupra Cymru

I think you and your friends have just been lucky, as my Leon is going into the dealers for repair for leaking doors on Monday. When I mentioned it to the service manager he commented that he had had more toldeo's back for this problem than Leon's so far.

Also (and this is to everyone) he commented on the fact that I had got hold of the Seat Bulletin for the fix to the Leaking Door problem and he seemed genuinely concerned and disturbed of how I had come to get a copy of it (or even seen it) as he stated it was a Private and Confidential document only to be seen by Seat personnel.

Therefore, if everyone trys like I have to tell the dealer how to fix if they try saying they don't know anything about and will 'investigate' then be careful when publishing you are aware of this document.

As we do not want Seat to get upset at this site and restrict the kinds and levels of information that can be communicated.

Hi Taurean

have I missed something? What Seat Bulletin document? Would be very interested to hear what the official fix is.

Cheers

Opened the passenger door on my Tdi this morning to find a nice puddle of water on the drivers mat - clearly coming from the door seat where water had over spilled.

I mailed flapper last week about this continued problem despite them attempting to fix it in Jan and ne too mentioned a new official "update to the door seals fix"

Fingers crossed this time around !

Leaky Doors

Hi

I have the same problem on both front doors, I believe to be that the rain water collects in the sills and is not draining away.....

Unhappy bunny.....

OK I guess I am lucky because my Leon doesn't leak. But lots of them do, so maybe it is worth suggesting to Seat to supply a free Vax with each Leon to suck up the wet stuff :)

not sure if this has been clarified as I have not read all the thread

My Leon is a November 2000 model and everything was leaking all the doors the pollen filter and some other place in the bulkhead, I got so pi**ed off with SEAT that I sent a letter to them and my local dealer telling them exactly what to do with the car ( If I didn't like it so much I wouldn't have the car now) anyway the car was going into the garage to have its air flow meter changed and they ended up keeping it for 4 weeks yes 4 weeks, one bonus is that I had a brand new top of the range Toledo V5 to thrash around in and it wasn't mine  .
The reason it took so long was because the sealer they use takes 12 hours to cure b4 a leak test could be performed this involved the whole car being continually sprayed with water to see if any got in. Thanks to the patient of the garage mechanic I now have a totally leak proof car, 3 years free servicing, a CD player, free mud flaps and a SEAT track day undr my belt.

Just keep at them until they sort it

Cheers

Johnny,

That's exactly how I was, Oh so lucky I thought, until..................

Thanks Dave, for the info, I think I will also see what my dealer has to offer on Thursday when our (mine when there's problems!) cupra goes in for the leak repairs.

Unfortunately, my vote went into to the "no leak" category a while ago.
Is there a function on this thread to re-vote? :)

I must admit though, it's loosening up nicely now (5600 miles) and even the wife is noticeing!!!!!!

"We" love the car, "we're" just concerned about minor scratches appearing (as per other owners). I say "we" cos' "I'm" the only one that washes it!

P.S.

I know I've not inputted much to this site, but I'd like to re-introduce myself.......................
My wife is the yellow thing on the left, I'm the one on the right :-(
She blaims the "cat" (in more ways than one!)
Anyone else have the same problem (with the wife, not the cupra!)
:)

I have just had my doors 'fixed'. Had some interesting onversations with the people at service. Seemingly EVERY LEON has the problem of leaking doors. It dose not appear straight away because it takes a while for water to penetrate the seal - the doors are sealed but not strongly enough. Someone also said that there is a sponge like material in the door absorbing water and further delaying a leak.

The garage stated that they can not sort the cars before they are sold as they can't claim a warranty repair from SEAT without a fault being apparent.

While I was waiting for a couple of hours on the car I overheard a phonecall about the same problem, I assume this is something the dealers deal with on a regular basis and have kept very quiet.

So far I am happy with the work done, the car seems not to be leaking (touch wood!). My only niggle is where the outer door seal has been cut to let out water it also lets in plenty of dirt onto the sill - this never happened before being modified.

Steven.

Sounds like a recall required to me.....I wonder if they've fixed production yet? (or rather - I *hope* they have :D)

Hi Guys,

Just picked my car up from having the Seat modifications carried out. Hope they work!!!

With regards to the recall suggestion someone made earlier, I asked this of the service manager, to be told that Seat weren't issuing a Model recall as the fault is not deemed a safety issue and therefore doesn't require all owners being advised immediately. Therefore, they are only dealing with it on an as requested (by owner) basis.

This is a bummer I feel. I think for something like this, especially considering that water leaking onto carpets, and therefore can rot/damage them over time, Seat should advise people that they are at least aware of the situation and give the individuals the opportunity to check their cars and if fault found then it can be remedied at the next service, for example.

Am I on my own, or does anybody else out there feel the same way?

Well I reckon that this thread will work as a recall, any one who reads it will end up checking their cars to find out weather they leak and if it does I'm sure they will be on the phone very quickly, just feel sorry for all the people who do not log onto this site
