Hi People,

i am new to this site and have searched around the forums to try find an answer but i am unsucessful.

i seem to be loosing a large amount of coolant as my coolant light comes on so i need to keep topping it up. my passanger side footwells front and rear are soaking wet, i lifted the carpet this morning and the foam lining is ringing wet and also underneath it the were puddles on the chassis.

has anybody else had this problem, and what do you think it could be? heater matrix?

thank you for any advice

adam :)

Welcome usaully water in the footwells is due to door seals but with you having to top your coolant up sound strange have you any parts of ya dash to investigate?

You definitely have no water on the rubbers when you open the door?

Really points to the heater matrix if so.

i can definately confirm it is engine coolant. i can smell it on all the rags i used to mop some of the excess water and also the carpet...

do you know roughly if this is an expensive job or fixable at home?

without looking you dont know maybe heater matrix or a pipe connecting to it youd have to get stuck in and investigate

On Saturday I had my oil and filter changed... And I have now been informed that the propella on the water pump has sheered off.. This causing the coolant loss  I have also sealed the door sills and the footwell is starting to dry out :)

If the prop on the water pump has sheard off then please don't drive it you could bust your pistons and valves etc!
