led conversion not working

I just bought led 501 sidelight bulbs for my mk2 leon. they’re a straight fit so no modifications are supposed to be made.I put them in and now when i turn my sidelights on they work for about 4 seconds and then turn off? even when they are on they flicker a bit . Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, thanks
