Last week I followed an SC Tech along the M4, It was a 63 plate, no sensors for auto lights & wipers so no convenience pack, no headlight wash - so i'd guess 2014MY. I was very confused as it had rear lights on, and when I overtook it I noticed it only had the regular front DRLs on and not proper lights (side or dipped).

The selling dealer told me this wasn't possible when I asked on the test drive, and i've read the online manual here which says the same.

So, how was it possible?

I need to do this to mine its one thing I forgot to enable.

Love the DRL's but hate not having dash light up.

I see the cables on eBay but can you get the software easy enough and is it handy to use? New to this sort of thing.

As said earlier, DRLs and sidelight look identical to me. So if I move the light switch one position, I would get the result described.

This is to stop people driving around with just drl's on the front when it's dark.
When the dash is lit - people assume all the lights are on.

There are VCDS instructions above this forum in the FAQS section, but I'd imagine the sidelights being turned on will do exactly the same job for free...

Some of us are capable of knowing what lights need to be used at what times
