Leon 170tdi FR Lights always on??

For some reason my 06 plate fr side lights and main beam (not high beam) have started coming on all the time. They come on as soon as the ignition is switched on! I've tried removing the switch thinking it could be faulty but when it's unplugged they are still on. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.

I thought it was just the models with automatic light setting on the main switch that would have light sensors?

if the light switch goes faulty or is removed they default to lighs on for safety reasons

Bought another switch from a breakers, plugged it in, lights worked no problem. Next day same again!! opened up the switch and part of the circuit board seems to have overheated! Both switches the same. Short maybe? Photo of the switch on photo bucket if anyone can take a look. Haven't posted enough so would need to P.M. the link.
