This gunna be interesting post plenty of pics
I can do...will pretty much be drill large holes in rear bumper, fit bass ports. Done
few bits arrived today
98mm hole saw (super fast service from Amazon) arrived to cut out the holes for the 100mm ports.
gives me a few mm to play with then to get a nice tight fit
I am going to be making some canards next. Fortunately thanks to www.carbonmods.com, they have a template on their site for large and small canards, as they have been discontinued, it allows others to make them.
I will be making these from a sheet of aluminium I have sitting about, then probably just spraying satin black
they will look something like this

Did a bit of work yesterday
Rear bumper off, and cut...
Stupidly when putting the ports into the bumper, I didn't cut them short enough and they fouled along the crash, so they had to come out again, and re-cut which put me back an hour![[:@]](/forums/styles/seatcupra/oldforumsmileys/furious.gif "Furious [:@]")
Resprayed the rear crash bar, but I think I am just going to remove this, as its getting in the way of the drilled holes

Rear bumper off, and cut...

It's the pikey way to release the pressure built up behind the bumper. The rear bumper acts as a parachute creating drag. Much easier than a flat floor and diffuser though.
Looking forward to seeing the new stripe
Is the rear bumper open? I thought it was 'sealed' from the bottom using the clips shown in your pic

The bumper is "technically" sealed, and I contemplated for some time to start drilling holes, but when you look closer at the pre-facelift, it's quite poorly sealed. The moulds which run from the bumper shell to the chassis aren't great and air easily runs between the poorly moulded lines and the rear bumper acts as a parachute almost.
I want to release that air which is causing lift on the rear at the moment at high speeds.
Not recommended, but the crash bar is going, so air flowing through the poorly moulded bumper seals will flow out through the large holes, releasing it, rather than trapping it, causing less drag and less lift on the rear.
My proper plans are to cut the spare wheel well out, weld a flat plate, and bolt on a proper diffuser, but this is a cheap and quick fix to releasing that air flow for now
Next is a big ass spoiler on the rear as the LCR spoiler is being removed to get some more down force as the rear is.....twitchy.....

Cleaned it with this:
I haven't been impressed with Meguiars gold class for a while, so someone suggested to use this and I am really impressed with it. Cut through the dirt really well, and it smelt LUSH!
Snow foamed as always, final bit of draining:
Then gave the car a quick claying, and worked on a few stickers I have been meaning to get on
tomorrow will be the rear bumper back off, drill the crash bar, then refit it it all and get the spacers on

Just ordered some poly resin mix today.
I have a set of spare engine mounts. These are going to be filled with a hard resin mix as a home brew style track mount. I would rather pay £27 for the resin instead of £240 from somewhere like awesome GTI.
For those that know, Mr Prawn runs these on his stripped out A3, and they work superb.
Also ordering adjustable top mounts (silverline), so I can get some decent camber on the front.
Also just grabbed some carboard from work, and printed off the carbon mods canard template, so I can start to mock these up against the bumper to see how they fit
