It is a lot cheaper but that will show in the quality (or lack of)

It will creak, squeak, and feel poor quality.

BUT like you said, if its say a 3rd of the dealer price and you're not fussed on super quality - get it bought.

Think you'll find its actually betteer than the real one.

I had a real one, the hinge broke. bought this the other day, a lot sturdier and the inside is fully carpetted , so no rattles fromt hings you put in it.

Only downside is it is not a direct copy.. it does not cover the aux port like the OEM ones. its just slightly shorter, but the top half over hangs. Also, its slightly higher.

i'll get pics up later.

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT - why are they not standard??

I found driving so much more comfortable after I got my armrest..

Lets be honest - the entire centre console in a Leon is pretty poorly designed - I'd happily make a better job of it!!

That would be great if you could, I'm seriously tempted by this. The only thing I'm wary of is drilling holes in the car! If I want to take it out if I decide I don't like it, I'm left with a load of holes in the trim, lol!
Was it a pain to install? Do you need to remove the seats or can you just slide them out of the way? And can you easily tell it's not OEM (if you didn't know what the OEM looked like of course, I mean in terms of matching the surrounding colours, quality etc)?

spot on, the interior is bland and boring, one of the few things i dislike about my beloved. iv been thinking about an armrest for a few weeks now so i would be interested to know how easy it is to install etc

It was easy to install with glue but now the glue is no longer
bonding with the plastic! Thinking of drilling holes now. The good thing is the arm rest slots in place so you can't go wrong. Just a case of securing it in place!

i personally would not glue it. no way would that secure it.

the armrest comes with selftaping screws, so no need for a drill.. get the screwdriver out and batter in!

heres pics of my aftermarket one.. you will notice i have a screw from the OEM one which broke still in place. Was either leave the screw or have a hole.

the top half is about the same lenght as a standard one, but the actual base of it cuts right under as you will see on the top pic

Does it (either this one or the genuine part) not make using the handbrake a bit awkward? I had an armrest in my Golf and although I liked it when moving, it meant I had to kind of twist my arm a bit to use the handbrake.

Shouldn't it open backwards rather than forwards?

Look again - it does, just the angle of the photo, plus that the joins between top and bottom slope, make it look like it opens forwards.

Personally, I prefer the look of the official one. Plus I use the cup holders so wouldn't want to loose these ideally.
