hi everybody,
on a recent trip to wales, i noticed that my temp guage reading was higher than normal, so i eased off back down to 65/70mph at approx 2,500 revs, the temp went back to the normal position of top dead centre, so i waited for 10 mins or so, then went back up to 80mph, which took the engine revs up to 3,500, and the temp guage went up again, so i went back to 65/70 mph and the temp guage went back to its normal position!!!........ so i had to drive at 65 mph all the way there and back to keep the temp ok!!!.............

any ideas why this is happening?
thanks.

p.s. why does nobody ever spot me when i am on my way to wales!!.

yup slowing back down to 60ish seems o resolve the problem temporarily the waterpump will get worse tho to the point you can only do 30 mph so if I was you id invest in a new metal waterpump from gsf and a timing belt from them too while you are there.

google gsfcarparts (german swedish and french) there is bound to be a store near you , just thell them you want the metal impellored waterpump for the tt/cupra/cuprar/vrs model 1.820vt.

well i went to gsf, bought the metal impellor version of the water pump, went to my local garage, and had the pump and the cam belt done, drove home, but then the next day the engine light came on, on the dashboard!!.
what exactly does the light mean, and could this have been caused by the work that i have just had done!?
thanks for your help.
