Hi guys,

My Leon 20VT is struggling a bit. When started in the morning the revs dip and die without the engine cutting out. It is impossible to get the revs up pressing the accelerator therefore impossible to pull away. I tend to switch it off and then start with the accelerator pressed in keeping the revs up and kangaroo a bit until it sorts itself out a bit after a bout 2 mins.

Any solutions??

its not idling right? so you have to give it abit of gas. Do a trottle body reset. Do a search, tell how to do it.
if you have a diagnostic, have it checked may help.

JMC1, Sounds like your having the same trouble as me. I've got a 2001 Cupra which has given me no end of hassle recently. As you said mine struggles to start, can't be reved and at it's worst hardly drove. Took mine into Listers main dealer in Coventry where they replaced a split Turbo hose, the coolant temperature sensor and the EGR valve (all that was £300!!) 2days later and the problem was back, took it back to dealer complained like hell they just said diagnostics was showing 6 errors!!
Foolishly listened to their head technician who diagnosed a dual mass flywheel as the cause (quote £1100 to do the job inc. new clutch etc!) Got the parts myself and had them fitted by a local garage £700 all in. Guess what it's still doing it not as bad I have to say but still cut out on me at the weekend on the M40 grrrreat.

Took car back to local garage and they said still 6 faults showing on the diagnostics so changed the mass air flow meter £145 fitted and car still has the problem.
Am now close to suicide so if anyone reads this and can help please get in touch.

Trying crank sensor this weekend £30!!! Think thats £1180 and counting next will be a box of matches :-(
