Well today, a bit unplanned we decided to get the spec c on the ramp,

We marked out any dents or flaws before stripping

Quite a bit, everything was blocked down, and any filling work done

The sills have little dimples in them from the factory pressing, presume these are for we're skirt holes would go, these will be retained too

Spec c bumper bar, with added subaru rust

Then into the booth,

This stage is a spray filler, this will be blocked down, then we will add three coats of primer,

Also got this, in my quest for oem-ness

Ill prob do some surgery on it for some more noise ;)

And a bit more oem-ness

Cheers James.

I do this to most cars, but I like my cars mint, with this being one of a 1000 cars, produced in Japan only, it seems fitting that it's mint.

Good day today,

Me and dad both started prepping the car, 320 blocked, then 800 blocked followed by all the edges and what not by hand

Car was then put into the booth and I started to paint her,

The cars sat air drying now, so won't get touched till at least Thursday/Friday.

Tomorrow before end of play I need to paint:

Boot and spoiler (now I know all my decals can be bought)
Handles
Mirrors
Scoop
Bumpers

I'm hoping I can do all of those in one sitting, a new front screen trim has been ordered too.

A tired jake

On the final stretch now,

Car is 99% built up,

Went and picked the new screen trim up ready for the glass to go in tomorrow,

New clips fitted, it's gone back together better than when I bought it, few bits of blacking doing on the scoop, and bumper. And I'm awaiting my new decals and badges from Japan, via cotton competition

Few pics,

Seen as I couldn't do it last week, I was dam sure I was going to do my wheels this week,

The wheels had lacquer flake, 3 were especially bad,

The colour I used was the original bbs colour, gk1

Here they are flatted and masked in the booth, eventually I may have the tyres taken off and get them dipped to remove the crap paint under them,

While the wheels were flashing off and then baking I set about the under arches,

The struts were in need of a refresh, just surface rust mainly, then I also blacked the bits that would rust if they weren't coated.

Here are the results, the struts were primed and then painted gloss red, the black is just smooth hamerite.

And after that had dried my wheels came off bake,

Next weeks plan is a full flat and polish of the fresh paint. By which time the new decals should be in from Japan, so they can go on with the new door decals.
