On the hunt for a 2nd hand leon estate vz2 possibly a vz3, 2.0 version.Based in the north east, Been tracking the market for a few months now, bloody nothing north of the Midlands for months now, whats going on? surely you folks down south can let us northern folk have some cars in striking distance. Been nothing even in Scotland to add injury to insult!

Are there many / any for sale in the midlands and south of the midlands?

With car manufacturers seeming to focus heavily on the production of SUV’s, I suspect that the production of estate cars in general is a relatively low volume segment for most manufacturers these days, and that will translate into fewer examples (both new and used) available for sale. I believe that VW have actually stopped building their estate version equivalent of the Leon estate (the Golf estate) - presumably because sales volumes were too low to make it’s continued production financially viable when compared to the likes of their T-Roc and Tiguan SUV models.

If you’ve seen used examples of the Cupra Leon estate ‘down south’ that fit your requirements, then unfortunately you’ll need to consider travelling further afield to find the right car for you.

Good luck with your search! 🤞

Reactions: Seriously?
Although it is obviously easier to source a car locally, I've always worked on the basis that you may have to travel to find what you're after.
The last car I bought was 250miles away, which meant a round trip to view it and do the deal and a nice train journey with coffee and bacon rolls to pick it up.

I think every car I have ever bought hasn't been further than about 50 miles away, for me the process involves a couple of visits to the dealers, first one good look round/test drive, then if I'm interested, another look back for a more detailed inspection, especially spending 20k+ on a used car. Then the third to pick up, at the same time that would be another 5 long trips in the car looking to part ex. Also a few of the cars I have bought, within a couple of days I have had to have back at the dealers for little niggles to be resolved.

I think the moral of my story is I like the ease of a local dealer, but if nothing in the next couple of months within a stones throw might have to broaden my horizons.

Closest one at the moment is leicester I think that's a 300 mile round trip and 4 hours each way.

New year so ppl looking to change never know something might appear here up north.

Some of the major dealers are happy to move cars around so that you can check them out but thats only going to be the major chains.

I had to travel down to Poole from Blackpool to get my VZ3 a couple of years ago. There wasn't really anything local when I bought mine with all VZ2 / VZ3 examples being south of Birmingham.

Obviously not something would ever get to see, but would be interesting to see the sales figures for different regions for the petrol vz models, hatch and estate. Based on trends majority must be bought new Midlands and London area, then traded back in, in same areas. I think I can honestly say, I have never seen a new shape leon vz since they were introduced on the 74 plate, while I have been on north east roads, that's not to say there isn't any, but limited. But see formentors every where I look.

I also suspect a lot of the motors these days are ex lease cars so maybe the second hand market is stronger down south so thats where the cars end up.

It makes sense that with VWG UK being based in Milton Keynes, their thousands of ex staff scheme vehicles will be pumped into the local network.
