I have an 07 TDI FR with 37k on the clock and at the 30k service the dealer informed me that there was corrosion on the back box of the exhaust, I looked under the car at the weekend and now have a 2" diameter hole in the outer skin of the box. Before I start having a go at the Dealer (as I think this is totally unacceptable on a car of this age) has anyone else had a similar problem?

Cheers

think they are bodywork only as the bodywork is protected by paint etc...

I doubt the zorst will be covered as this isn't protected by anything. Also certain types of driving will destroy the zorst quicker like short trips which don't let the zorst get hot and therefore allow water from the combustion process to sit in the zorst causing it to rot... there would be too many variables to allow the manufacturer to cover this.

I have just had my rear box changed under warrenty for the same thing, my fr is just over a year old and only 14k, exhaust looked like it was 20 years old,

I have a backbox for sale if you need another! Came off my FR TDI, drop me a PM if your interested and ill email you some photos.

Mine is a 2007 petrol and i think the back box is quite rusty for the age i also think it (the exhaust) may be more noisy these days..

I've since been in touch with the dealers and all being well they are going to replace under warranty subject to an inspection of the box next week - I'll let you know how I get on.

Many thanks for all your feedback!
