As I said on another thread - my alignment was out from the dealer, fixed that and it seems a bit better. Check the tyres too, could make a difference. Then I think its a matter of using the cruse. Literally I see a 20mpg difference along a straight flat section of my commute if I use the cruse vs the pedal.

I can hit 32mpg (petrol FR) urban, but was struggling with the extra urban and mixed. Not been out really since getting the alignment sorted, but I'm sure its going to be better. Also, note that the official extra urban cycle is really more like A roads at 50-60 than sitting at a constant 75-80 on the motorway. Air resistance is starting to affect you by then, and going a little faster will use a chunk more fuel. Yous chooses your speed, yous pays your cost...

I've now done 14,000 miles and fuel consumption is slowly getting better.
I'm now regularly getting between 45 and 48 mpg for local journeys of approx 10 in length in normal driving conditions but less if I drive it hard.
Recently I drove 300 miles from from Scotland down to Nottingham, mainly motorway driving with cruise set at 70 and got 56mpg. That was on a tank full of ordinary Jet deisel as that was all that was available in the rural part of Scotland where I had been staying. I quite often use Shell V Power but is it really worth paying up to 10p a litre extra?

i shall repeat a rant i had on somebody elses thread about a 1.4tsi winging bout mpg

if your that bloody bothered stick to the limits! stop winging. If you speed and use the throttle as an on off switch what do you expect?considering official mpg's are calculated at 60ish(correct me if im off) ofcourse your gona be massivily off the mark doing 80!(33% faster then what is calculated at) and as said before your little 1.4 turbo is gona be a full chat(ish) at 80. Do 70 and stop winging.

Your doing 90 and has stated before drag doesnt effect your car in a linear way.at 90 the drag is going to be massive compared to 70.

i do 70 on the motorways and drive sensible in town but a quite like throwing it down backroads. i achieve 48mpg without even trying.

even ringing its neck ive never seen it dropping anywhere near 40 let alone 30.

I think you just have a very immature right foot that needs to do a little growing up.

Rant over

just bought a seat leon fr tdi 60 plate and it has done 6000 miles i have not drove it really hard put £30 in when light came on got 220 miles round town and when i put £30 and done some motorway and some round town i got 250 averaging 40ish mpg round town and about 55mpg on a run but was stuck behind some traffic on b roads so think i could get nearer the 60 mark on motorway for decent journey im happy anyway as my st3 focus only done about 20 round town and 35-40 on a decent run

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but has anyone seen improvements in the mpg on their car? I know it's a 55 litre tank so circa 12 gallons. Most people wouldn't run it down before refuel so I'm guessing it's more likely 11 gallons per fil up.

If people are getting 480 miles to a tank of 11 gallons that's only 43 mpg. Even worse if they only managed full to empty 55 litre!

I'm doing 120 mile a day to work, is it at all possible to get 600 miles to a tank if I cruise at motorway speeds

Hey emm well mine is a 10 plate and I have done about 97000miles on the clock, about 80000 of which is just motor way lol, and get about 480-500 around town before I refil it says am doing about 42mpg for that but not sure, when I use to drive mainly motor way when I was still at uni I get about 500-600 out of a full tank before it says I have 10mils left. Normally it depends on your average speed and many other factors like wind speed, tyre presure etc but if your traveling at about 70mph on mainly motor way you should get about 600mils out of it, but if it's combined and you do about 50miles in town then that will drop to about 500miles for a full tank, however if your doing about 55-65mph on just motor way you should get about 60+ mpg which should give you about 600-750miles. Hope that helped answer your question

i'd be cruising at 75mph on Motorway normally which is GPS speed of about 70mph.

In my Tyre R I can get 30-32 mpg in winter or 33-35 mpg in Summer and 38 mpg is m highest

I just want a combination of performance when I want it and mpg when I don't, hearing people saying 45mpg seems really low considering it's a diesel

Understand it's never going to be as nippy but it will do until I decide to go for a remap.

At that speed it sounds about right, well to get optimal mpg make sure when your using the sixth gear that your Rev is under 2000rp, over that your turbo is doing more work, but between 1500-2000rpm is the sweet spot for optimum Rpm, good luck

I was the same thinking it wasnt pulling very good mpg.. was getting about 42-46 on my daily commute, which my fabia vrs was easily able to get over 58mpg.

Went in the other day to chop it in against possibly a new fr as they are claiming and extra 10mpg(64.9mpg) 180bhp and 14mpg(68.9mpg) on the 150 bhp. Was debating what to do but on Saturday took it a good run up to Aviemore from Balloch. So 300 mile round trip in not the best conditions and it avg 58mpg all round.. it was a easy drive mostly cruise control at 60-70 mph

So all in all was pretty please as posted on the mk3 bit for actual figures but think the new yins dont look as good and dont want to trade the supercopa in for a more standard looking car.

Fuelly currently says 42.5MPG for my last 10 tanks, it has my best tank as 523 Miles which must have been mostly motorway. If I wanted an ultimate economy car, maybe I would not have chosen a 2 Litre turbocharged car with sporting pretensions?

I've got a CR170 and wondering what people get on a motorway run? I've done a few runs of about 100miles+ and it averages 35-40mpg when sitting about 70-80 on the motorway, is this about right with what everyone else gets? Just curious as I used to have a Vectra CDTI and that could get me 70mpg+ on a simple motorway run...

I get about 40-50mpg on journeys off the motorway (my record so far is 87mpg on a 15mile run!)

Got a PD170 some isnt 100% relevant, but i managed to get around 47-50mpg on 139mile trip. Mostly sat either just off boast or at low boast around 65-70mph. Trip computer was reading 50.2mpg

I have a 2012 CR170 DSG and see on a 100+ mile trip about 57mpg sat at 70mph. With mixed driving around town and some motorway driving see about 50mpg on average to a tank.

I have a 2009 cr 170 fr which is remapped to 210-215ps with Dpf removed

I get about 500-525 miles per tank fill and that's commuting to work and back and the odd drive around town to get from a to b where I'm a bit harder on the pedal

I am amazed at the mpg in fact. I have close to 105k miles on my clock and am seeing regularly 55-60mpg on my way in to work which is either dual carriage way or motorway cruising and when I'm a bit harder on the pedal will get to about 46-4&mpg

Envious - my Cupra gets 24mpg so just remember it could be worse!

my 2011 fr+ tdi cr gets about 49mpg,

doing a 30 mile commute on the motor then dual carriage, then few miles in town

I'm happy with that because i don't hand about lol...

if you drive at 60mph your mpg gain is massive...
