Seat dont make a towbar for the FR/Cupra or Cupra R due to the slightly different bumper shape. You can buy aftermarket ones for the standard Leon that will fit but you will have to cut the bumper. A few people on here have done just that.

Um i think so. Do a search on here and you'll find out a bit more. Some people have cut the section out the bumper and then modified it so that you can fit it back in place when the towbars not fitted

The Leon I broke for parts had a brand new Witter towbar fitted. There was a rectangle cut out so the bar can poke out. Still got the bar in my hall along with loads of other random parts lol

Just be aware that seat havent released towing capacities for these, check the data label under bonnet. Because the manufacturer hasnt stated a towing capacity you cant legally have a towbar made, i believe some will fit but could void insurance as its not roadworthy. I read somewhere that under the new mot tests they check towbar installations and electrics, if they are switched on they will realise the data plate doesnt have towing weights and could fail mot.

Looking on parkers, it says Braked Towing Weight - 1400kg. So im sure that means it can tow? :)

Strange, perhaps they know something seat dont ;)

I think you can get a bar for sep 2005 onwards fr, just not earlier or cupra tdi. I know i cant get one for my car going by the tow bar place and my data label.

Just got my V5 back and found this:

Technical permissible maximum towable mass of the trailer

Braked - 1400 KG
Unbraked - 650 KG

So it says on the log book you can tow so i cant see why not.

Checked my v5 and says same. Did you find a detachable bar that fitted? How did you cover up the hole?

have people purchased a cupra/fr tow bar or an ordinary tow bar? i have been on the phone to witter and they say they have one suitable for the fr mk1 but cant give me a reason why it's £202 more expensive and i would still have to cut the bumper.
