The weather is rubbish-drizzly, misty and grey. The roads are greasy TCS light easy to provoke and my last day of holiday.......
but: THE NEW SHOCKS ARE SPIFFING!!!!!
The effect so far is only partly clear as I have not had a chance to try the grip on dry tarmac or with any substantial cornering force but at low speeds on back lanes and urban broken surfaces the car is transformed. The unsettling and ,frankly uncomfortable ride-even though it was improved by the Eibach pro kit- is much improved. I will update the review once I have some dry time but the current set up is very promising. I am off to WIM next week for a full 4 wheel alignment to ensure that all is as it should be but so far so very good. I will take some advice there about ARB changes as the next possible move.

A fine dry day but some chores - but taking the long way round has permitted some real work and first impressions are borne out- a much better ride has given nothing away at all. The high speed control and medium speed back lane handling are reassuringly good. I am off to WIM in Chesham for chassis check and alignment session AND some new GSD3s early next week. So far a great mod and highly reccomended. The car is unrecognisable compared with its tooth jarring o/e suspension.

More progress! Went to WIM at Chesham yesterday and watched as their miracle machine was deployed their geometry set up is far more than just 4 wheel tracking. It includes measuring camber, caster and various other parameters beyond simple toeangles the team their will adjust the set of the subframe so as to optimise other ordinarily non adjustable settings. Not at all alarming done with obvious skill and with live measurement to demonstrate the effect. I doubt if they would fail to make some significant improvement- perhaps a helpful step for those concerned about the inside edge of the rear tyres and resultant bad noise and wear problems. Very worthwhile for those who wish their Leon to roll as well as possible. They supplied and fitted GSD3s (nirogen filled- posh or what!!) which look great and I will report if they fail to live up to their favourable first impression. It is possible to run an FR without befriending your dentist and osteopath!!!

Gsd 3s now scrubbed in and they together with the aligment are a real improvement. These cars benefit from expert set up!
