Right had the car plugged in...Heres the LIST!! of codes!

Anyone???

016891 - idle control module - RPM higher than expected
016885 - vehicle speed sensor
016804 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below (Decat)
017705 - Turbo/Supercharger connector - throttle valve
017947 - Clutch pedal switch F36 inconsistant Signal.

So... to refresh everyones minds. The car is cutting out when i am slowing down to stop. When approaching roundabouts, junctions, obstructions in the road...etc i slow down using the gears/brakes and when i put my foot on the clutch for the final time doing say 15/20 mph and stop the car simply cuts out.

I really need some of you clever people to give me some advice here as I dont want to replace each part to rectify my problem.

Can i test any of the parts relating to the codes? If so how?

Cheers guys

Barney :)

some may say lala land....
the last one sounds similar to the guys notes on page1: press clutch and would die
change clutch switch and monitor
speed sensor; could be clutch related or accelerator - all speculation

have a look on ross tech wiki at what they say

16804 - if you are running decat explainable
17705 - boost leak somewhere
16885 - possible knackered sensor in gearbox, does speedo work?
17947 - possible sensor as mentioned above
16891 - check on vagcom your idle speed, does it tie up with clocks

Ah thank you ronin225.

Yes the speedo works, I've ordered a clutch switch do you happen to know what sensor could be faulty on the gearbox?

Is there any way of checking the car to find the boost leak or is it just a case of replace the boost hoses and cross my fingers?

I'll have to wait for my friend with vagcom to be free to check the idle speed but thank you for all the help :)

I know it was quite a while ago I had these problems but thought Id keep the thread updated for any future referance.

It turned out to be a clogged up throttle body and butterfly. Took it off and gave it a damned good clean, emptied a whole bottle of inlet cleaner.

The car was instantly improved and my fault hasnt returned in 6 months.

I didn't, after months of my issue I got fed up and took it to P-Torque who gave it a damned good clean with lots of carb cleaner and then reset the TB.

No pics I'm afraid sorry :(
