I have to say that the brakes were the only question mark when I bought my Cupra, originally the factory were going to fit brembo's but (IHMO) were told by the beancounters to fit R32/S3 brakes for cost and supply reasons,

From what was said on here, it was because the brembo's couldn't perform as well as the R32 ones, so the brembos were ditched for the better brakes.

And, from what everyone else has said, they do perform better than the old Mk1 brembo's so i wouldn't be too upset. :)

i went today testing the cupra at francorchamps racetrack in belgium, the brakes are not so good for track use because i overheated the brakes a few times and the discs gave vibrations at +130kmh...

mmm-I dare say the LCR's (standard) set up would have done the same-I faded mine on more than one occasion on the road. I think most people who are using a car on the track would at least upgrade their pads;)

I might be wrong, but dont the UK spec cars have the R32 brakes and the European cars its a optional upgrade?

Or was that just when it was going to be brembo's ?
