I need to change the rack on my Leon FR tdi as its knocking really badly and the passenger side wheel has alot of play in it. I checked the steering arms, and the track rod ends so it has to be the rack. How easy is it to change the rack? Is there anything I need to be aware of before I start?

Thanks for the response. I've changed the tie rods on both sides and the knocking is still there.

Surely it wouldnt be the rack knocking... Wishbone bush? Suspension top mount? ARB link? Lower ball joint?

its a subframe drop job, make sure you replace with a TT,R32 or Cupra R rack, quicker ratio makes the car so much better

+1. Changed mine to an S3 rack which has the same. An awesome differance.

As people have said it would be odd for a rack to knock, more likely to be, droplinks, arms, ball joints, top mounts etc etc.

surely if its just one wheel with the play in it its not the rack?
is it hard to upgrade the rack? sounds tempting but i know id mess up the pas some how.

Is the Audi s3 rack a direct replacement with the rods etc? Do I have to swap the old ones to the S3 rack? I have dropped my subframe already and want to replace the rack with a s3 rack. Need some advice. Thanks in advance.
