On the subject of car kits... I'd definitely give another vote to the Parrot 3200LS Colour. I've had mine just over a year now I think and it's been fantastic! Parrot offer a lifetime warranty on their products too, so you know you'll always be covered if something goes wrong.

I like the Parrot kits as they just work. Setup takes a few mins and from then on it's just a case of leaving bluetooth turned on on your phone and that's it... nothing more is needed from you at all :)

Full marks from me :)

Good man Lee, I hope you are as pleased with it as Rob and myself are, it is a great kit. Setting up the voice commands for everyone in your phonebook is the bit that takes the longest but it is a cool feature as is photo display when someone calls you and automute, no need to turn the radio down yourself!

You can even set up the wallpaper for the background so when mine boots up it has a nice pic of my LCR. One funny thing I have experienced today though is I had a car full of mates and just in general conversation we managed to activate the voice command system twice and it started calling a random person in my phonebook, very weird! I think you can disable the voice command feature though as that could prove annoying, just means that you simply press one button on the display unit which then activates voice dialling so then you say the name of who you are calling and the Parrot puts you through.[B)] :funk:

I've got a Seat logo on a black background with a nice red glow behind it as my wallpaper... looks very smart and suits the interior nicely :)

If anybody wants it let me know and I'll host it so you can download it :)

It's very easy. The hardest part I found was physically fitting the control box and wiring in the dash somewhere. But I do have the wiring from an aftermarket headunit to hide too so you should find it easier.

For what it's worth, I found a fair bit of space for cables over to the left hand side of the back of the dash, as if you were feeding it over towards the glove box. I slotted the control box down in a gap on the left and the wiring went in the bit I mention towards the glove box.

I then fed the wire attached to the screen out through the headunit surround and the Parrot screen itself sits on a Dashmount (www.dashmount.co.uk) bracket next to the stereo :)

Its not to hard but as its the second time ive done this i find it reasonable easy and took me just 2 days to do the charge pipe and the Inlet manifold.

If you have the right tools like i did its just time consuming.

Good stuff, makes the job even easier when you can watch

It's worth watching though, just in case you ever need to remove and re-fit it.

What did you think of it when you saw it in his van? Cool toy hey? :)

It's an absolute piece of cake mate! Seriously. This is what you need to do...

Firstly, leave Bluetooth turned on on your mobile. That way you don't need to worry about connecting or turning it on each time, just leave it on.

The first thing you need to do when it's installed, is pair your phone to it. To do this, go into the Settings menu on the Parrot and then into Device Management and there should be an option to Pair Phone (going from memory, so excuse me if this is a little off...). Chose this option and you'll get a list of phone types, if your phone is in the list, chose it, if not chose 'Other' and in either case you'll get a message on screen with a PIN number.

Now go onto your phone, open Bluetooth settings and search for a new device. When it finds the Parrot, tell it to connect and use the PIN on the Parrot screen when asked. This pairs your phone and Parrot and is a one-time thing, you wont need to do this again.

One tip at this point: Some phones have advanced options for each paired device, one of which is the option to allow the device to connect to your phone automatically. If this option exists, enable it.

Once the phone has been paired and you have allowed it to connect automatically, the phonebook will synchronise so all your contacts are on the Parrot. Each and every time you get into the car this happens automatically and takes about 20 seconds, if that. You don't need to do anything at all.

To use it, push the centre button (the knob itself) and an alphabet will appear. Chose the first letter of your contact and push the button again. Find the contact, push again. Find the number, push again and it calls them. Simple.

And if somebody phones you, you just push the green button to accept the call or red to cancel it.

When this happens or when you phone out, the stereo is muted and the sound is played through the speakers.

One installation tip for you... the top of the A pillar is a great place for the microphone. Little background noise and great quality.

Hope this helps :)

Hi Lee, glad to hear you have got your Parrot mate, that didn't take long! Like Rob M says it is such a user friendly unit, I have programmed mine so that all I need to do is press the green button once, this activates voice command dialing, say the name of the person I want to call (this requires you to record a voice tag for the contact concerned) and the 3200 dials the number, its brilliant!

I decided to disable the option to have total voice command control (so no need to touch the parrot) as I found it would occasionaly start ringing people in case someone in the car said something that sounded like me saying 'phone' , had a couple of close calls where I nearly phoned people I didn't need to:redface: , so now just one press of the green button activates voice dialling.

I mounted mine just to the right of the central air vents using the supplied sticky backed bracket. This means I can neatly run the cable down the side of the centre console and its nice and easy to view and control.

My favourite bit is when the phone rings and the speakers play the ringing tone (I think option 4 is best). I know I know I must be easily pleased!:D

Let us know what you think when its all installed on Friday.
