Leon with LED reg lights (dashboard error)

Hi everyone,

I’m having some trouble with my reg lights. The current halogen ones need changing, so I got the part number and got the LED equivalent - that also had the same part number as it’s a genuine part.
They work, but not without an error on the dashboard. I really would prefer to keep these as halogens are naff, but I also don’t want to start rewiring the reg lights with resistors.
Am I able to get around this if I was able to program my car, with something like Carly for VAG or is there a free program? I have a 2013 MK3 Leon.

Yes you can disable the rear light diagnostics with VCDS or similar software.

Pop on to the VCDS thread on this forum and see if anyone local to you with VCDS will do it for a couple of beer tokens.

Put filament bulbs back in.

You can use OBDeleven for this. This is the procedure given on the OBDeleven Proboards forum.


Eliminate error LED lamps on the license plate
If you are thinking of putting leds on the license plate, this will avoid modification of the Fis you notice defective bulb.
1 - Module 09 - Electronic. Code (31347)
2 - Adaptation
3 - Select - Leuchte25KZL HA59
4 - Sub - Lasttyp 25
5 - Change value Allgemeine LED. 2 * default 5W
6 - Select - Leuchte25KZL HA59
7 - Sub - Dimmwert AB 25
8 - Change value to 127. Default 100


You may have a better chance of finding someone with OBDeleven Pro as it costs much less than VCDS (£58 from the manufacturer).
