Hi all, fitted a liquid gauge to my LCR and just wanted to know how accurate they are?

When the temp gauge on my dash gets up to 90 degrees the liquid gauge is only reading around 70? It does make its way up to 90 but 20 degrees is a big difference? Also if i go for a bit of a drive the liquid gauge gets up to 96, 97 degrees but the needle on the dash doesn't move?

Also the bhp/torque figures given by it seem.... optimistic. My REVO stage 1 LCR with only a B5 TIP, 007 and N249 had a peak bhp of 279 and peak torque of 289?

As much as i'd like those figures to be true i'm highly doubting, anyone know how it works these figures out?

Any previous experience you could share would be great :)

Temp gauge is normal and how it has been designed to work by VW. Will show 90/normal over a huge range to stop people worrying. Think my car shows 90 on the gauge from about 75 degrees c. Highest my temp ever goes is 94 - but the temp display will always stay at 90.

No idea how the Liquid gauge calcs it, probably based on acceleration vs vehicle weight (if you input this?). Either way its a complete guess and should be treated as so

That will be why its wildly off then - Far from an accurate way of calulcating bhp

LG for parameter measurement is 100% accurate.. its reading data stream which ecu see's.. HOWEVER, if you read 70'c and gauge says 90, your cts is goosed.. Engine ecu thinks its 70 deg.... resulting in reduced fuel economy

performance bhp wise its not to be relied upon.

Cheers for that guys.

So Bill I shouldnt be worried about the torque? As I was planning to go stage 2 but won't if it's going to be close to 289 already?
