Will a manifold designed for a 1.8 Longitudinal engine fit a Transverse engine ? Someone is trying to convince me that it will fit
im not sure really. i just bought a t3/t4 port and polished manifold and didnt even think to check about the transverse part. it said it was fot the 1.8t so i bought it lol.
weather or not its any good ill find out eventually.

I think its longitudinal only for the leon.
longti mount puts turbo between runner #1,#2 and transverse between runners #3,#
it will bolt to head of course but thats about as far as you will get on fitment.. nothing else will line up
I might be wrong, but I think Audi have their engines longitudinally? Or at least the older ones did, not sure what they do now.
As rsmith says, even if it does physically fit the engine and you can get it into the car it's likely the connections off to the exhaust will be in the wrong place.
well thats fair enough. so basically if you did get a wrong 1 then it would be more of a case of modifying the exhaust then? i was just concerned that the manifold would not fit the block after reading this. but as far as i can tell if your going down the big turbo route which is either t3 or t4 fittment then their is going to be modification required anyway. obviously you dont wanna buy a manifold designd for a ko3s when your going bt.
yes its only the earlier audi a4 and other 1.8t models befor 99 that where longitudinal.
all seats and vw and skodas are transverse as far as i have found out.
A4s are longitudinal way after 99.
