Has anyone enabled this function?

I found out that you can enable the light on the dash with Vag-Com but this makes the light come on all the time, I guess that the sensor (that I don't have) in the bottle switches the light off once it detects fluid.

Has anyone fitted the sensor, enabled the light in the dash and got this function working?
How much is the sensor?

Dont think anyone has done it. I asked a while back after enabling the dashboard light with vagcom. Looked to me like removing the front bumper, headlights, and fitting another washer bottle. Searched the net and some guy had retro fitted headlight washers on a "jetta" and it seemed like the same procedure, removing loads of parts and running cables to the dash. Far too much effort for me.

AH shite, I was hoping to pop out the washer bottle, fit a sensor to the wiring loom that's already there and enable the light on the dash.

I have a FR CR TDI 3 weeks old, Speed Blue, with all the possible factory fitted options. Page 67 of the operating manual states that when the washer fluid is low a Priority 2 (yellow) warning message will state, on the enhanced dash display, REFILL WINDSCREEN WASHER FLUID. This was also enabled in my previous car, a LEON Cupra TFSI, again with all the factory fitted options and does work!

My Toledo has it, it's f**king annoying! It's the same beeeeeeep as the other warning tones, and when it's just on the edge of the sensor it goes off every time I go round corners!

Maybe you need the winter pack optional extra to have the washer fluid level sensor?

The manual isn't going to reflect a car with different options on, so I would assume the cars with the bigger MFD that are facelift, have the function?

Danny.

Not as annoying as running out of washer fluid mid-winter on a 200 mile journey on the M1 and the screen getting covered in white salt which gets smeared by the "tear drop" wiper function! Even my old austin metro had a flippin washer fluid warning light
Suppose the old "check washer fluid before long journeys" should apply but when every day is a long motorway journey my "washer fluid level clairvoyance skills" sometimes fail. Even more annoying that they put the light in the dashboard and skimp on a sensor that probably costs a few quid.

I replaced the washer bottle on my 2.0 tdi and noticed a wiring loom with a connector on it hanging beside the bottle. Is this for a level sensor?

I had one as a hire car, how do you check the wsher fluid level? The tank is at the bottom of a pipe in the bumper and even after putting a litre of screen wash in I couldn't see anything.

I have oem xenons with the headlight washers and i enabled this with vagcom and just a couple of days ago a warning chimed at me for the first time and a light came up...wooohooo it worked! Topped up now to shut it up! lol Warning now gone!

You can probably get at it if you remove the wheel and then take off the splash guard. I had to replace an air con pipe so had bumper and all of the car so was handy enough for me to get at!

So do I just needa buy the sensor and then vagcom it to get it working correctly?

^^^^^
Maybe.

I'm going to look into this over the crimbo holidays. I know that if you Vag-Com enable the light on the dash the light comes on all the time and won't go off. I assume that the sensor makes the light go off when washer fluid covers it rather than go on when no fluid covers it.

I would like to add this to mine, lets us know how you get on.
