yes mate,
ive put one on my other halfs golf mk4 gti, hers is dropped 50mm and fine,
i only tow my go kart though.
just make sure you dont load the boot full. fill the back of the carravan to eaven it out.

according to the seat handbook i got with my car they advise against towing. i haven't read it in detail as towing isn't high on my list of priorities but i'd imagine it could put strain on the engine and maybe cause over heating issues.

Don't think you should have a problem, if you use a riser plate on the tow bar hitch to raise the ball up, to where it should be on a non lowered car.

You should be able to get a riser plate from any decent trailer/ towbar shop.

I'm probably going to have the similar problems, been looking for a detachable towbar for my LC to tow my bike trailer, so far it's looking iffy & 'Expensive'
