Hi, Ive just got my hands on 17" Lenso stage1 alloys for my 1.2 12v Ibiza MK4 and I'm wanting to lower the car just using springs, was thinking about 40mm. I've heard it wont lower it much and lowering 40mm on the front the wheels will rub on the arches, is this true and can I have any advice about lowering the car please?

I have lowered mine 50mm on springs with no rubbing issues at all, however, there isnt much travel on the suspension now and i regularly hit the bump stops on speed bumps. On the road though its fine and seems to handle okay...

oh yeah, im running 205/40/17 tyres on offset 38 wheels

I have lowered my 1.2 35mm with apex springs on my 17s + it looks natural asif it has never had smaller wheels. would have loved to have dropped it 40mm+ but would send the shocks through the arches with all the bumps and hills where I live. The back doesnt lower as much as the front so if you want the rear end low on springs you'll have to buy 2 sets of springs. on a 35mm drop i have about 5mm from the wing edge to the tyre(cant see above the wheels in the arch) hope this has helped.
