Has anyone lowered there leon on 19s?

If so do they rub or have any other problems?

Think it would look ace but not sure if its a good idea or not, might get 18s and then lower it.
Any suggestions anyone?

Lowering on 19's might indeed make you Crackers! ;)
Sure to experience issues going down that route, plus the old speedo will become inaccurate.

18's appears to be the best compromise, and does look the best. Then add some lowering Springs at least, or do it properly and add a nice coilover kit to complete to look. :)

Springs - Eibach Sportlines on 18's popular with members here.
Coilovers - Errm, not sure who's best at the moment, although I'm sure someone will clarify shortly!

Mine is fine, depends how low you want to go, if you want it in the weeds so to speak, then don't bother it will rub.

However a nice subtle drop as an example the top of the tyres meeting the arch line is fine.

I have ran mine for a several months now and no rubbing, though you do have to wary on very rough uneven ground as the exhaust may catch if you have it very low. I've not experienced any problems of catching, but then I stick to the roads and don't go dirt tracking in it that often. :D

The shot above was taken the day after it was done, and the rears dropped further than expected. So it's since been adjusted and sits a bit higher at the rear now, though they need to wind it up a little more next time I am in. Plenty of adjustment in the KW V1 kit I run though, so it's just been wound down too far.

As for 19's they are fine, if you choose the right tyre/wheel combination. I use 225x35 19" tyres on an 44 offset 8J BBS rim. The difference in circumference from the stock 18" Cupra wheels is 0.46% increase with the 19" rims.

Which means my speed at 70mph is only reading 70.32mph, not exactly what you would call massively out, most car speedometers can be out by up to 5% anyway.

Most tend to go with 235x35 19" tyres which increases the rolling circumference by 1.55% over stock 18's which will mean at 70mph they will be doing 71.08mph.

OK, I take back my original comments, yet again, proven wrong! :ban:

i alredy have 19s fitted. there the rs4 style ones, 205/35/19 i think.

Dont want to go mega low, just to lose that gap under the archs. The front looks a little high to. Just after thar finishing touch

No worries, I researched the subject quite a bit before I ordered the 19's :) It's a common misconception that they make the speedo go out by miles, its not really true especially if you match up the rubber the to the wheels properly.

However the negative effects are harder ride, but that comes part and parcel with the lower profile rubber.

205 wide seems quite narrow to me, what width are the wheels?? Your not stretching them are you. that's a whole new can of worms.

mine are fine - 19's with 235/35/19. had them on about a month now, and only rubbed once, corning at 60 with a bit of a bump...but i am running standard sport suspension, i should imagine with a harsher damper/spring combo this could be avoided. for now, i just slow down to 50 on that particular corner!

I fitted BBS ch026 wit Et50 (think the earlier mentioned ET44 on bbs was for the 18"rims since over here 19" have Et50) combined with 235/35/19 Dunlop sportmaxx and 4 cm lowering (eibach prostreet S) there is no rubbing at all (only with the frontlip/tarmac in very fast cornering :p)

After fitting the coilovers the car has become a lot softer (even after changing from 18 to
19").

So: 18" drive best and are the more sensible choice 19" suit the car a lot better (on the cupra that is, for the FR with less power I wouldn't even consider 19")

Sweet ! ^ Those Alloys look like Mercedes wheels going by the centre cap ??

(on the cupra that is, for the FR with less power I wouldn't even consider 19")

I'm planning on removing the extra stickers on my FR, might even remove the rear seats as they are used infrequently.
Then with the weight saved, my FR should have enough power to run a set of 19's ?

reason why I took 235 mm tyres (dunlop sportmaxx) in combination with 8j x 19 was that they can handle the amount of torque of my cupra a bit better (460 Nm).
The amount of grip that I have is impressive an wheelspin doesn't spoil too much of the fun.
These wheels however do come at a price and that is that the car feels less nimble and accelleration/fuel consumption suffer a bit from them.
For less powerfull Leons I would stick with 225 tyres and 7.5 x 18 rims, handling/ride quality will definitely be better (and tyres are a lot cheaper).
