mine was 35 mm ish,

took me the day, easy way is to drop the fron subframe a bit on the nearside for the shock to come out,

you will need some spring clamps aswell, look on ebay, i got a set for a tenner,
 
im using janspeed shocks and springs, very good for the cash.

get a haynes manual mate, best guide there is for this job.

tools youll need

1.spring compressors
2.good socket set and wrenches
3.variety of spanners.
4.white grease
5rubber mallett
6.allen keys
7. brute strength

sits lower by 30mm ish, its perfect height on 18s also

if your running 17s then youll struggle to fill the arches no matter how low you go im afraid, the leons have huge arches
