third time lucky

hey hey

y'all might be aware that i have had bother with my newly acquired leon.

we bought it 10 days ago and had to return it after the first day as it developed a lumpy idle and loss of power, unfortunately the garage (a saab dealer) wanted it back to fix.

They put a new MAF in and after a day or 2 declared it fixed. they delivered it back to me and when i got home i went for a test drive, i only drove 20 odd miles before the excess emissions light came on so i drove home and sat in my drive only for the lumpy idling to return.

They have had it again since last friday and they rang me today to say they had replace the MAF again, all spark plugs and all the coilpacks. They are gonna keep it tomorrow just to be doubly sure but they think they have finally sorted it!! they will deliver it back to me on thursday, fully valeted and with a tankful of petrol!!

Fingers crossed it is finally sorted so i can enjoy it and start the modding process.

btw...how much would maf, plugs and coilpacks usually set you back??

cheers dudes

so, the garage rings today and they said the idling problem is solved.

great i thought, then they said but we aint happy still because it seems to be hesitating at higher revs...

so they are now going to change all the hoses as some have pinprick holes in them.

starting to think i aint ever gonna get to drive this car for more than 5 minutes at a time!!

I know how your feeling i got a cupra beginning of January not been right since i had it cold start problem unless i run it on tick over for about five Min's before driving is kangaroos up the road and intermittent holding back and power surges, plugged it into vagcom nothing showing. so it will be interesting to see what the garage does to sort yours.i got mine private so i have t fix it at mt expense.

any luck? seems like you got dam unlucky with your purchase. I've got the exact same year and model and i got similar problems but they arrived much later on and were fairly straightforward to fix. Good luck

Just got back from picking it up and it seems to be all sorted. Idling is spot on, no hesitation when you give it the beans so fingers crossed I will get a bit of use from it now.

Bring on the modding. Lol

Glade you got it sorted what did they do?

Sorted mine out at last, since Ive had it i only put petrol from sainsburys/tesco because there handy, Thursday i put shell in it made a immediate improvement to performance but still had cold start problem but not as bad. today i cleaned throttle body replaced air filter and replaced plugs, now starts and drives like a dream.
so no more supermarket petrol for the Leon.

they changed the maf, coilpacks, plugs and breather hoses.

it runs well now and idles constant at 800rpm. it pulls very well throughout the range and hopefully that will be the end of the problems for a while.

just booked it in for cambelt and water pump. 78k...8 years old and still on original!!
