Lumpy on Start

Hi Guys,

Got a LCR and it has a 100Cell race cat, Downpipe and Blue Flame Zorst...

Basically occasionally on start up its a bit lumpy....only happens for about 5 secs and then fine........

Is it coz ive got the zorst, and cat and dowpipe? but wouldn't have thought so? Nothing shows in Vag.com at all....

any ideas?

How do your spark plugs look? And when was the last service? Could be nothing, just one of those odd gremlins, but could be some sort of blockage that clears quickly (fuel filter)? Could be an auto-choke problem?

not checked em, service was last December...

will prob replace sparkies i think any how!

Standard plugs are changed at 40k afaik but on a mapped R i would change at 30k. Standard plugs are also fine so i have been told, and i have no troubles on a ST2 LCR with them, but i think is it the denso iridium ones, that are ment to be good? I (touch wood) never have any problems from start up with full BF system.

Just noticed this Rich, was suprised to hear it, never had any lumpiness when i had it at all. Plugs were changed at the last service IIRC.

I noticed mine was lumpy for a month or so on startup, then one of my coilpacks went, seemed fine after the coilpack was replaced.

Had denso iridium in my leon, month later, the plugs went and the 3rd coil pack also, funny thing was no fault was shown. The car felt ruff and sounded like a subaru.
Pop the coils out 1 by 1, if it dosnt make a diferent, the coil gone but check you plugs.
Had my denso plugs which only lasted 2month or less, waste of money, im now using NGK.

all lcr's i know of sound like and feel like that on start up until bout 3min down the road when they start to warm up nothing to worry about

this isn't dodgy sound on start up, its hard to start sometimes (not every time) sometimes it has to turn over about 4-5 times and then is lump once started, ie jumpy then settles down!

hard to explain!

mites really loud on start up but only for about 4-5 mins when the revs are at the higher stage. if i drive it straight away it is lumpy (petrol FR) but if i let the revs drop (and the engine tone lower) then its fine. iirc your not supposed to drive it when the revs are high to begin with? your meant to wait...correct me if im wrong..

mine sounds like a challenger tank also on start up most vag 18t's do my mates tt is the same.the idle becomes higher for a few minutes then resumes to normal.i remember when i first got my car thinking "is this a tdi??!!"
even new m5 sounds like a taxi when it starts up!!dont get why tho?!
