m0rk tries an Ibiza FR

nice one M0rk........
picking ours up in September, went diesel few a few reasons, one of which was the immense drivability.
also, huge torque, better mpg, cheaper insurance, and to piss off the chunda Civics, and Poxhall Ashtrays :cartman:

It was a real suprise for me, I didn't really want to take it out, I didn't think it would respond well to the circuit (27 corners in one mile, no more than 3 seconds in a straight line) - but it took it in it's stride.

Leaving the ESP on it was very adjustable on the throttle

I think my past experiences with diesel drivers have been those with binary throttles & little skill, so lots of soot & tyre squeal. Driven properly (hark at the big headed driver) it enjoyed being hussled.

I'd almost be tempted to say that I reckon it'd be quicker std than molested power wise.

yeah, but the newer range of PD /commonrail diesels are a league all of their own.

in my mondeo ST24, i got totally wasted by a Saab 9-5 diesel :-o
it was embarrassing to say the least.
that was the point i said to vick, i'm having diesel next for sure!!!!

Don't get me wrong, I've driven more than a few 'sporty' diesels - just never had the opportunity to play with one as if it were mine.

The Brake assist is lame on them though, but the ESP (optional extra) is great - let me have fun without kicking in & spoiling it

Ibiza TDi FRs are getting a bit common now. It used to be a very exclusive club but soon they'll be 'two a penny' like those damned Fabia vRSs!:p

So when are you going to swap m0rk?

When hell freezes over (sorry)

the seats just didn't fit me at all (but I'd just got out of a Leon with the ultra supportive buckets)

Mark - on page 7 you mention the Leon has a 4star NCAP rating. Shouldn't that be 5 ???
