Well it's coming home for the first time since 3rd Jan on Wednesday next week. I can't say I'm looking forward to a 450mile drive in it.

The rear shocks have truly had it, skipping over bumps in the motorway. Luckily nearly new shocks are on order & will be fitted shortly.

Sad as it sounds I'm really looking forward to giving it a decent clean both inside & out.

New front number plate ordered too - slightly less tall than it should be, but sits in the mount better.

It was bearable on the way up in January only because the roads were dead, but it took all day.

I need to do quite a bit at work that day, and then drive after that... I don't think I'll be doing 130 on the M6/M74 this time.

Well it's home, in dire need of a good clean! I'm sure it'll appreciate not being in Scotland any more!

>40mpg all the way, which had I sat at 70mph would have been ~44mpg over the 480miles I did yesterday.

Something is definitely amiss on the rear suspension, hopefully just a blown shock (since I have new ones) as when I turn right (at all) it feels very loose.

What do you call this, finishing work on a Wednesday..... slacker ;)

What time did you get home last night then? Late I'd guess......

A mate is on the look out for a 172/182, when he manages to sell his '51 LC. So if you know of any going 'cheap' give me a shout ;)

I got to work at 6am, left at 2ish and stopped for dinner at 7.30 at Milton Keynes. 2hrs later I was off again & home by 11.30 so not too bad all in.

1.5 days holiday, and thanks to the september weekend I get to fly back on Wednesday next week! Well needed rest now.

Anyway, got mods lined up now :)

NSR shock is f*cked. OSR isn't a lot better! The rear beam is literally dripping with shock oil - which would certainly explain the amusing handling traits it demonstrated on the way home.

Off to jack it up & wash!

Standard replacements - they're regarded highly paired with Eibachs, and until it blew it was spot on.

I'd have liked Koni dampers with my existing springs, but they're a tad dear for 'just dampers' at £550 !!!!

You see - I thought that too from comments on here

But on CS (like SCN, but not) they're not as well thought of

Equally, I'm not spending a grand on some bilsteins, that'd just be nuts.

Rear shocks swapped, new top mounts & bump stops too.

It's a fifteen minute job - you don't even need to remove the wheels (I did anyway to clean them)

Tyres are looking a little past their best with some scoring & pretty high wear, so four new boots will be coming soon.

Today I've had all the wheels off, washed them thoroughly & also behind the arches. Clearly I don't feel well

Anyway - small plate fitted & a trip out this evening in a very shiney clio. Better photo's tomorrow maybe
