Making use of turbo

this has got to be the most rediculous thread I have seen on here for a long time

if you dont understand a turbo aspirated car or how to drive it then dont buy one![/QUOTE]

The whole point of posting in this section of the forum is to ask questions and get good advice from other owners! im sorry that not everyone can be as good an expert as you! besides i bought the car cos i like the look of it! :D

not an expert at all...

but are you telling me that you bought a turbo aspirated car and never thought to take it over 3000rpm? I guess the other 4000rpm on the rev counter is just for show

trying not to have a dig, but just find this quite funny:)

i dont know how the hell you manage those figures!!!i get 30 mpg when i drive carefully, and 18mpg city driving... and if i put the foot down i get considerably less...

x2, I was little worried when i saw those figures! I get about 28 when motorway driving, and about 18 around urban areas, and like you said even less if i give it some

Back on topic, one thing I've noticed since having my lcr (2 weeks) is if you plant ur foot the turbo will kick in at about 2500rpm and u will feel that shove in your seat, then change gear at about 3500-4000rpm you will get the same 'boost feeling' in the next gear. But if you take the revs up to about 6000rpm, when you change gear the revs stay relatively high (about 4000rpm) and you kind of miss that boost feeling and it feels more like an N/A car

I have no idea why you're getting figures that low, I am often in the 30s and that with a balance of both normal driving and turbo. Pretty much just following the flow of traffic

Motorway miles are always over 30mpg for me but maybe my urban mpg is better because there are no urban areas here...well very few, just alot of countryside and alot less stopping and starting.

are you running a derv or highly modded LCR as that torque figure in your sig seems high for an LCR..

My leon cupra derv doesnt pull 299lb

over 300 lbft here and its not a oil burner either.. so not really high for a lcr. just average from a good map and mods. got to say tho the diesels have lots of torque and still pull great with weight in the car. prefer to have a diesel myself soon, they are as fast and some faster than the petrols now even a audi tt TDI, never though id see that!
