Maximum load weight?

Anyone know what the maximum load / axle weight for a MK2 Leon is?

Or more precisely.. would i be safe cramming a 1 ton load of logs in to the back?

1 tonne in a car?! No way!

I always reckon you could carry 4 large people and their luggage so possibly 400 - 500kg spread evenly around the car.

My navara can carry 1 tonne in the load area, but it's not much fun to drive!

Those tote bags will be more like 300 - 500kg anyway filled with logs.

In short, no. The maximum vehicle weight and kerb weight should be quoted in your handbook, at a wild guess i'd say you could only carry about half that.
Our 3.5t LWB sprinters can only Carry 800kg as they weigh 2700kg empty

Yeah, thinking about 1 ton does sound, er, impractical!

Think I'll check whether they mean a ton (ie. several bags) or a single bag - much more manageable! I guess the bags are maybe quoted to 1 ton for stuff like building materials..

Yeah, the bags are generally known as 1 tonne tote bags, which filled with gravel / sand would be around a tonne, but not logs.

The manual will tell you for sure, I looked it up when delivering yellow pages - the total load is something like 550-600kg, to include passengers as well. I probably had my car close to it's recommended limit.

Be sure to try stopping with the extra weight on board - get a feel for the brakes.
