I was considering a change and i though of the new Mazda 1.6 16V 107BHP.

This goes aganist the NEW LEON 1.6, which will have the remaining stk of my old motor 8V! no chance to have no changes in motor; even if slight!

I saw the mazda and it comes with original xenon head lights, 16" rims, electric sun roof, leather steering wheel and gear box with Steptronic. Looks similar to the new LEON when looking from front. (for the head lights only). interior quality is German to big extent.

NEW LEON has a very nice interior as well as the exterior complete change. etc... only motor is an issue. bigger capacity wont be released here in Egypt and even if true, will be imaginary costy.

What are you thoughts?

I have the 1.6 engine in my Leon and I can't fault it. I've driven the 1.6 FSI unit that you get in the Golf and I didn't notice any different. As they say if it ain't broke don't fix it! As for the Mazda it's a nice car but I was never drawn to it when I was changing my Ibiza but each to their own.

I am also in a bit of a dilemma.... I have a 03 LC and I've test drove the 2.0 TFSI and the Mazda 6 Sport
maybe I'm getting old, but the suspension of the new Leon was waaay too hard, and the stereo sounded crap, and the plastic in the cabin was thin, wheras the Mazda6 was too "family car" for me, and the road noise was a pain.
Test driving the Mazda3 next week for a long weekend... wait and see

Post looong testdrives - Mazda 3 vs 2.0 TFSi

Ok... so I didnt like the suspension of the new Leon was waaay too hard, and the stereo sounded crap, and the plastic in the cabin was thin...
but a 250mile testdrive of the Mazda 3 decided that the TFSi was for me

Mazda 3.
Better quality interior plastics and design.
Bose stereo - blew the Seat out of the water
Only 5 gears...
150bhp but missing torque in the first two gears. Pull out of a roundabout and hope that no-one is coming around too fast :wtf:
massive amounts of road noise and pathetic adaptive stereo level meant that I had to raise my voice tooo much

So its the TFSi + Bluetooth for me.... June delivery

maxdas are good cars and you get a lot of kit with them. Certainly worth a good look and as said based on the same platfor as foci so will handle well.

My advice would be to hold out for the more powerful Leon (capacity? if thats what you meant) or if you can't wait then between the new Leon you mentioned and the Mazda 3, I'd go for the Mazda 3. If you're not getting performance in each then it boils down to build quality, standard equipment levels etc and in that case Mazda wins.
