I keep a USB stick permanently plugged in via the adaptor cable in the glovebox. This works fine but occasionally, when I select the Media button I get a message to say no media installed. If I remove and then reinsert the srick it then works fine until the next time. As far as I can see all connections are still firm when this occurs, though it can't help having the stick flopping about on the cable in the glovebox.

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this and if so whether it was a fault with the car or the stick

Thanks..

Exactly the same thing happens to me too. I talked to dealers and they requested me to do a picture of this when it happens and in such case I might be eligible for firmware upgrade... What's more interesting is this hasn't happened in at least few months :)

Used to happen in my Skoda... not had an issue since using an SD card for my music instead so would appear to be an issue with the leads/usb stick side of things.

Same happened here, garage said an engineer would guide me through sorting it. They never came back to me so I just use an SD card now.

Do you know the same thing has started happening to me? I have tried 2 different makes and sizes of USB stick with no affect. It seems to happen if i have left the car with the key removed for a while. When driving I can change between the radio and USB no problem on long trips. I have tried pulling out the USB stick and also the cable at the other end and it detects it the USB stick again and starts playing.

I am going to dig out my old iPod and see if it behaves the same or not over the weekend.

I have the cable secure in a cloth that I keep in the glove box.

The service is due next year and i would be keen to know if there is a resolution to this without having to visit the dealers.

Looking like a common problem. Like Rayman it happens to me when I have not used the car for a day or so but has also occurred when switching from radio to media on the move.

My 2014 Leon SE ST Tech Pack does this to.

Seems to occur if the Media system is turned off with the on off knob

If i always leave the Media system turned on it never seems to happen

Next time it fails to recognise the USB stick is inserted which is usually when your driving and is annoying as it isn't possible to remove and reinsert it easily try doing a reset on the Media system (press the on off button for 20 seconds).

Once the unit restarts it recognises the USB stick again :D and no need to unplug and reinsert and can be done safely whilst driving

why can't Seat upgrade peoples firmwares as a matter of course? If there is a newer version and it makes improvements on the previous and you're under warranty.... surely... ?
Is there a list anywhere of the existing/current firmwares (or anywhere available online?)?

Probably because all the "technicians" are too busy doing warranty work on faulty cars.

The media not present thing happens with SD cards, too, just to let y'all know. Doesn't happen very often, but certainly 3 or 4 times since I've had the car...

Yeh, but your car had the free extra option, the Gremlin mode.

I had just the same random intermittent drop-out problem with USB memory sticks in my Media System Plus/Navigation unit on my October 2013 Leon. I tried several different types and sizes of USB memory stick, but it made no difference, so I transferred all my music to an SD card instead, which has never exhibited this problem. The only thing I've noticed is that occasionally the album artwork isn't displayed, but then it later reappears OK, but I'm not sure of the circumstances or sequence in which this occurs.

Clearly this has been happening on cars built up to 2 years ago and SEAT have not sorted it out (mine was built in Dec 2014).

On a related issue, I have the radio (DAB and FM) set to automatically store station logos but none have ever been stored. Does this feature work for anyone else?

Starting to get used to the fact that , every so often, system 'loses' iPod. Seems to be no reason why, doesn't happen every time you turn ignition off. Resorts to radio for about 2 minutes, then iPod appears again. Have now put a CD in for more choice, reverts to that now.
It's a poor system compared to the RNS315.

It's most likely connection issues. There are many more connection points when using USB vs SD, and the USB isn't secured in any way. SD will always be more reliable.

I leave an SD in my car all the time, I have never once gone to it and found it not working.

Connection issue was my first thought, though as I mentioned connections look physically secure when this happens. Also, at present I'm using a Scandisc stick which glows red when it powers up. Funny thing is, when the media system says it isn't there, the stick is lit up which to my (admittedly technophobe) mind would suggest it IS connected and would point to a software issue.

This is the first time I've left a stick in semi-permanently, as my recent previous cars had usb ports in easy reach (eg centre console) so I just slipped in a stick on entering the car and took it with me at the end of the day. So I don't know if this is just a SEAT/VAG thing or if all USB ports would "lose" the stick over time, possibly being affected by cold/damp within the car?.
