Any ideas what the melted fuse is for?

aii commam problem on these- think there is a poll for this iirc., when it happend to mine i just replaced with the newer type of fuse which are enclosed as these old type fuses over a period of time heatup/cool down over and then dont function properly..

Sory for not findiong it with the search must be going blind,

for now i have cleaned out the contacts and new fuse in and will keep an eye on it, if goes again new fuse box for me.

You'll need to replace the housing, had this on mine and was forever changing the fuse! No other way around this unless you don't touch the fan controls, but mind yours is guna be off the road for a while i guess!? They're about £40-£50 iirc?

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, i replaced the the whole fusebox thing on top of the battery but now this is the 2nd time and its started to melt again, so wanting to know what soloutions people have come up with?

I know theres a thread in the FAQ section but not many people look at that.

It's common amongst you Mk3 Ibiza guys, although it happened to my Tolly too:

I got someone to bypass the fusebox on mine and put an isolated fuse in tucked away behind the battery

Any pictures or a quick guide how you bypassed the fusebox.

I have thought about putting the after run pump on a timer and switch, as mine seems to be on constant but wheres the point in it being a afterun pump?

Thanks guys

Any decent car electrician should be able to bypass that certain fuse externally with a good housed fuse casing .
I and other members here have done it :)
Easy peesy and cheap.

when you say fans? do you mean the radiator fan is going? or you hear a whirring?

yep both fans on the radiator.if i just turn the key on off the fans starts and goes for 10min tried so much now so not much left to do.re-file the aircon and see if i get some fault codes or not.don`t have any now:censored:

I know was just being lazy to go have a look, but i had a spare one to have a look at so father has ripped it apart and sees how it works so it will be bypassed with an external fuse housing, piece a piss really.

when the new fuse starts to melt it will be done then.
