I have a 2009 (pre-facelift) leon with the old style radio in it.
I fit a VW RCD310 (from a 2009 passat) and it worked fine, no safe pin mod needed etc...

However, none of the steering wheels controlls are working since the upgrade. I have had a search around and I know the RCD310 should support them, maybe the issue is that it is a VW unit.

I have had a look through the retrofitting sat nav thread but no luck

Update: I have the VCDS scan results now, just not sure what to do with VCDS to fix them?
I think most of these are from the radio installation, So I will clear them and try again soon.

You're right, the RCD 310 should be plug and play. Did you get it from another SEAT? Or is it from a VW?

It is from a 2009 VW Passat.

if it helps -

Woops, sorry, completely didn't see tt you already said it was from a VW. It may just need recoding using vagcom if you know anyone who's handy with that? I've got one of these at home, I'll have a look and see of there's any difference. Where abouts are you located?

Thanks, I am in east london. I have a cheap eBay VAG COM cable from my old car - I will check what options I have with this.

Thats strange I fitted a ( seat leon ) lights up red Rcd310 to my car about 3months ago I had to move some of the pins around in the blue quad lock to get sound and Aux but all the steering wheel controls workdd fine from the get go....when I checked mine with vag-com I didnt see any options for steering wheel controls..

Yep I had to move the two cables around for aux to work. I will try plugging the original unit in to be 100% sure it is not a fault in the quad-connector wiring (pin pulled out or something)

What pins would be used to connect to the steering wheel controls, I assume CAN-HIGH and CAN-LOW (can- and can+)? - I will check these are not bent or anything too.

edit: Pins are ok, and the steering controlls work find with the old radio.

Have exactly the same issue. Trying to get access to VAG-COM system locally, as I've seen a few clips on YouTube which may be of help. If you manage to resolve, can you post how?

Sure will do, am going to try getting my cable working today.
did you disconnect the battery when swapping the radio's over. I did not and not sure if that is the cause.

Didn't disconnect, but been advised that it may be resolved with vag-com as the headunit will have different coding. I have further issues involving the lack of plastic block housing the aerial connectors at the rear. Little to no comms with breaker where bought...

The faults from your VCDS scan are just the normal ones that get logged when you unplug the HU.

Clear them and they should be fine.

I dont think there are many other options on the HU for steering wheel controls. They are simply sending commands down the CAN Bus to change stations/volume etc...

There should be a pin out label on the HU's, i would check they corrospond to what you have on your vehicle harness, especially the CAN wires.

On the mk5 golf You need to switch the coding on the radio to deactivate BAP to get the older style wheel to work, would assume it's the same on a seat.

will look for a link as it was 2 years ago I done this.
