Cheers tyrer, itll get sorted, just getting fed up of cold nights in a tiny garage and a low bank balance.. lol..

When i took the inlet to be powder coated they insisted i took the injector seats out which i kinda knew would have to happen.. they wouldnt budge at all so the only way was to chip them out.. 3 went perfect, one was a right pain!.. The 4th one chipped a tiny bit of cast away too so the seat doesnt fully seal... had a smoke test done and it pissed out, ive hopefully sorted it ( superglue around the top ) lol.. but if not, new inlet and get it powder coated again.. CHORE! :(... Im just inclined to count my losses and get a new one anyway, as i dont want 1 thing bodged on the car, and that will always be in my mind if the seal gives up under boost

Ouch, I had fooked injector seals last year but they came out ok and all 4 were replaced.

Is a shame mate, but probably better to have a nice new one on there which isn't bodged. You've come very far with the car so would be a shame to run a bodge mani on there imo.

These cars do like to eat money sadly :(

Mike,

Super Glue will probably perish over time with the heat. Why not use a 2-part epoxy steel resin? You can buy it from Halfords and such like for a few pounds.

I've used it countless times with excellent results, so speak from experience. Most recently I used it to repair my Forge DV; when removing the vac pipe the metal nipple came off, so I used the epoxy resin to re-attach it. It's really good on intricate bits, as it has a two hour cure time and is a paste until it goes off. It sets as a metal and doesn't perish, and would be able to be sanded to create a seemless seal on the injector seat.

Really is a great bit of kit, and would avoid you having to go through the process all over again :)

Hope this helps?

James

Cheers mate, that was my only worry, that under boost or extreme heat the super glue would give up, but ill try the car tonight down the road and see if its cured it if it has ill remove the glue and get some resin stuff and try that.. if not ill just get a new inlet!...

Right, im biting the bullet and getting a new inlet manifold...

Are all Cupra R ones the same, even off a 210.. i presume they are?..

Also an audi s3 one will be the same too?..

AMK 210, BAM 225, S3 & TT 1.8Ts all have the same ports. Only point of reference you need to be certain of is that the manifold/throttle body sits to the right as you face the car(same as yours).

Shame you haven't given the resin a go; it'd work perfectly. PM me if you are thinking of selling your present manifold.

It's all about the bite mate. Glue won't 100% marry with metal, so therefore it won't give a perfect seal. Using the chemical metal, it will, and with new injector seals, it'd be dandy.

It'd take a few days to sort but I can appreciate that time isn't always on our side, so I can see where you're coming from.
