misfiring/ backfiring seat ibiza gti 2.0 16v

hi people,
my ibiza is sick, started to misfire/backfire, i put new plugs in that hasnt cured it, put redex injector cleaner in aint worked, now its got worse, that the car wont start, it turns over n backfires n then stops again, theres numerous things that cud cause it,
injectors blocked
dodgy coil pack
ht leads
fuel filter clogged
dizzy cap

has anyone got any ideas need help plz

Definately sounds like a fuel problem, try a cheap one first wif a new fuel filter, about a fiver and 10 minutes to change. Is your air filter clogged up aswell, may as well put a new one in, Fuel pump or fuel pump relay perhaps? Apart from that i would check the usual suspects, Idle control valve, Throttle body, breather pipes, sorry I cant be more help,it sounds like one of those problems where it could be any number of things, Hope you get sorted..

il try a new fuel filter, it sounds like its starvin from fuel, if not that then il check all fuel lines n take all throttle bodies to bits n clean em, its got a new air filter on, if that dont work il av to plug into computer n find sourse or a new engine,

have you been using different fuel to usual eg from different garage?

haha is that bad then vince. I tend to go to the nearest avalable garage when the light comes on

i always use the same brand fuel as they have different octane ratings at different garages. i just use esso premium.

i checked fuel n that, nowt rong there, so it had to be electrical problem, checked if there woz a spark on plugs, no spark.
so i bought a new coil pack, still no spark, rite dizzy cap, took that off, an the rotor arm had melted n had turned to dust, (ive never seen one do that before.) i got a new rotor arm n dizzy cap, it started first time like new again, next job service, n coilovers fitting, cheers for advise lads
