misfiring??

morning, my motor isnt running right......engine management light is flashing every 5 mins and wont really go over 50mph. its juddering and vibrating and had to ride the clutch to get it through the gears? appreciate any suggestions cheers

More than likely a coilpack has gone, resulting in it only firing on 3 cylinders.

A new coil pack should be around £20. Your engine is definately misfiring and you will have to identify which cylinder is causing the problem, but check your spark plugs first just incase it may be something simple causing the misfire before you buy a new coilpack. Thankfully a new coilpack won't break the bank!

Once you get it sorted the engine light will stop flashing but wont go out. To remove it you have to get your car pluged in and reset the fault.

If you dont fancy a trip to a garage to do this you can buy a lead off ebay for around £10 that will allow you to reset it.

thanks for that mate. i was going to check the leads before buying anything anyway toi make sure which cylinder it was misfirng from. im hoping its coil pack then, i thought they was much more to be honest....hopefully with halfords traders card it should be much cheaper! thanks again bud

that happened to me the other week.
cost me about 40 pound for a new one but that was when aa man came and got me.

common fault according to him aswell

got it sorted. was a coil pack, i just took each one off and found out which one the problem was from. it was £25 which i was happy with. thanks for your help
