Alright mate, looks like you covered all the bases there!, The crank sensor is located in a little recess behind the oil filter, its a pain to get at. You need to remove a bracket which holds on the front engine mount bolt, to do this you need to remove your starter. It makes life a lot easier if you remove the oil filter aswell, could do a oil change while your at it to make it worthwhile, I changed my sensor about 3 months ago on a 99 plate 16V and it was totally shot, corroded wires etc. I had an annoying misfire on an astra many moons ago and it turned out to be nothing more than an incorrect gap on one of the plugs.
