got missfre on my gti 16v occurs between 1_3000 revs . changed fuel filter ,coil, plugs,ht,dissy, knock sensors, air temp sensor, throttle pos sensor, could it be crank sensor and where is it . anybody help.

Alright mate, looks like you covered all the bases there!, The crank sensor is located in a little recess behind the oil filter, its a pain to get at. You need to remove a bracket which holds on the front engine mount bolt, to do this you need to remove your starter. It makes life a lot easier if you remove the oil filter aswell, could do a oil change while your at it to make it worthwhile, I changed my sensor about 3 months ago on a 99 plate 16V and it was totally shot, corroded wires etc. I had an annoying misfire on an astra many moons ago and it turned out to be nothing more than an incorrect gap on one of the plugs. Hope you get it sorted mate.

Injectors? And have you checked the timing is spot on?

had the car from new and timing is spot on this fault only appears now and again and no fault codes appear on diagnostic. i have used injector cleaner in fuel but have not taken rail off to inspect.

fault comes and goes runs perfect when ok. standing and moving

hi i managed to find the fault simply by taking out and putting back in 2 relays . one was marked with 30 the ecu relay .the other marked with 18 ignition and auxillary relay. once done car ran smoothly through all revs .hope this helps anybody else with similar problem.

were they dirty or just f*cked

the ignition relay was hot so probably shagged but just taking it out and putting it back in seemed to cure at least til i get a new one.

Ive just had this problem to it was the crank sensor as said you have to take the front engine mount off. I didnt have to take the starter or oil filter off tho is a right pain in the ass tho. Wire was totally shagged it was all brittle and bare wire was showing

car has been running ok today .i put a kv meter on plug lead to compare readings i took when it was faulty and it,s gone up from 20kv to 30kv on tickover .
