My 1.4 16v Ibizas mirrors folded electrically!
It was one of the first in the UK, so it had an extra or two

try lifting it up a little as you fold it, thats the only way mine will fold.. however its a mk3

my 1.2 mirrors folded an my new fr ones fold they sholud all fold really i was hit by a person on a bike and i had my window open it folded the mirror back on impact and then bent the mounting so i countnt open window but the mirror just pulled out and just neded re alighning so they are strong but should all fold
Got feedback from Seat UK, apparantly my mirrors dont fold I thought all mirrors folded these days. So I explain to the non technical person, that to change the colour coded mirror covers you have to fold the mirrors. Further, I explained that if I had a damaged mirror, the parts departemnt would order the mirror amd mirror cover, which is primed ready for clour-coding to my paint. All logic seem to go out the window. I advised the customer rep to speak with Darren at Willoughbys, who was available for educating non techncal Seat staff. I've since spoken with Darren and been told that Seat Uk will have to liase with HQ Parts. Other models have been check and also your feedback has been valuable in arming me with the right info. It seems like the school of thought at Seat Uk is " If we tell the customer this, we can keep our money in our pockets"

Sent a very nice letter to the SEAT UK Direcot of Customer Service yesterday fully disputing the fact that my car had fixed mirrors at production. Even found it in the manual, and it wasn't even an option - now why didn't I check that first 
Well Darren at Willoughbys is totally behind me and the Master Tech can't see why it shouldn't have them. He even went onto say how he always folds customer's cars before driving into teh workshop. Apparently, head offcie said tehy'll get back tomoz with a solution - I've asked for full 'goodwill' repair as I dont think the corroded mirrors happened since my warranty expired some 4 weeks ago.

Quoting the manual is a good idea, when my Xenon bulbs started flickering they initially wouldn't change them under warranty, until I quoted the manual which said "the bulbs should last the lifetime of the car unless there is a fault" - they haven't got a leg to stand on if it's written in their own manual.

Well I finally got the reply from the Customer Service Manager at SEAT UK. "We can now confirm that you have folding mirrors" - No s***t sherlock. "But we will not be repairing them with any form of 'goodwill' as the car is out of warranty and it's not a manufacturing defect". "Oh and they have corroded through lack of use" 
However, i feel that it is an issue as they should amend the servicing guide to incorporate some lubrication, but it seems I'm going to no where ![[:@]](/forums/styles/seatcupra/oldforumsmileys/furious.gif "Furious [:@]")
So my advice is - if your still in warranty, check your mirrors, and maybe give them a film of grease, or spray some lubricant around the pivot point.

Who needs Seat UK - got a pair of 'as new' mirrors off a MK Sport for £20 Now I'm happy with that. Fitted the FR covers, which means that when I've got a spare hour, it's off with the door trims and on with the new mirrors. I think I'll fit my components at the same time - my MB Quarts have been sat around for the past year

Where was that from and are they electric adjustable. Alternatively do you have a seized one you would be willing to part with. My passenger side one is still held on with duck tape at the moment.

mine fold easily enough (2004 FR) i fold em when i wash it, to give the bugs a good scrub off. just whack em with the palm of your hand. they're fairly tough i mean they have to withstand some force of the wind as you're driving!
isnt it just the sport/free riders that got electrically folding mirrors? or was it an option on the older models and just not many new purchasers opted for them?
