Update: 22 Mar 14

So busy weekend already!

Rear shocks, springs and hubs/bearings done!

13316402684_710500cdb5_b.jpg

The springs that where is the car where some cheap ass pile of poo! Especially when compared to the Eibach's

13316033475_17442926f1_b.jpg

Standard shock and the Eibach springs have left me with the same lowered look, but I now have comfort back when going over small divots, pot holes or speed bumps :D

After:

Ran out of time this weekend to do the front, so will have to do that another day, but the priority was to do the rear as the hubs where fooked :(

My drivers side rear chase:

What is should look like:
13316194423_eda978e548_b.jpg

Then pottered around as my mate had to go back to work...

Engine bay had a bit of a clean up:

New bolts put in and had to glue the plastic support back to the light assembly:

My new LED boot light arrived today so going to fit that later as well as putting the boot plastic back on correctly, as the garage had replaced the rear wash hose and not put it back on right! grrr

Sorry I have been quiet over the last few weeks. Work has been pretty pants lately, so much that I might not have a job at the end of the month :(

...so my lady has not been getting too much attention :(

However she has been treated to a good clean and polish last weekend

Update: 26 Apr 14

New foot plate now machined and fitted!

So the plate was ordered from ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160993415218?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

The plate is a well machined piece but was not finished as far as I was concerned. CNC'd and Laser cutting is obviously done en mass and shipped out.

14023484275_1fcd07c476_b.jpg

Lots of rough edges and the bolts that where supplied just looked tacky... so went to my mates and raided the tools! He has a milling machine and lathe so I know he had the tools for this :)

So first step was to loose the raised counter-sink washers and counter sink the plate direct:

Then put a shallow counter on the non screw holes to finish the edges off:

De-burred and files the FR logo:

Mounted:

It looked OK but was missing something to highlight the FR logo...so using some Sugru cable repair stuff, which is a flexible rubber compound:

So mixed some up and then filled the FR logo with the compound and let it set for 24hrs:

Then a clean sharp Stanley blade to clean of the excess at the front. I left the back to ensure that it didn't just drop off.

and finished!

Had to cut down the bolts a little, but nothing the Dremel couldn't deal with ;) Just need to get hold of some TT pedals next to finish off.

Also picked up a bargain over the Easter holidays, 170 Piece Halfords Advance socket set for £110 from £210 original price :D

Thanks Ted

Nice mod, was looking at these but now I don't think I'll bother - what with the amount of rework needed
You defo need to get the ally pedal cover fitted, will look much better ;)

Thanks bruceR. Yeah if I didn't have the access to the tooling I think it would have just been OK, but not great. Yeah on the hunt for the peds as we speak :(

You should have ordered the LCR pedal covers then they would have matched your foot rest :funk: ;)

Hey Guys,

Things have been a bit busy and complicated of late, so not much has been done to my Leon.

To cut a long story short I have been made redundant, got a new job on shifts (so more time to play) and left my girlfriend so now living with my mates.

So I now have some more time to get some more done to my Leon and I'm living with my mate who has lots more tools than I do ;)

I have updated my blog with my new Alpine head unit I have fitted and she has recently had a service, MOT and both wishbone assemblies replaced.

Looking to get her mapped and a new exhaust once I can get the cash together.

Cheers

Ted

Update - 04 Mar 15

So its kinda of been a weird few months of late. But I am now getting back into working on my Lady Leon.

January was MOT and Service time so had those done at Camberley Service Centre an intendant SEAT and VAG Specialist. http://www.camberleyservicecentre.co.uk/

Nothing major came out of the service except for both wishbones needed replacing which as I had asked them to fit my Eibach lowering springs and new shocks was handy :) Although £900 quid later it was an expensive month! Topped off with a £90 Driver Awareness Course which I had to pay for. (Was caught doing 34 in a 30) :(

Anyway there were as you can imagine a few 'notes' on the service sheet (Not the MOT so no real biggie).

Discs and Pad would need changing in the next 3000 miles and battery was charging but was due to be replaced. So thought I would get it all done sooner rather than later so....a trip to Euro Car Parts and £200 lighter:

Pagid discs and pads all round:

New Bosch battery:

I also got a VW Touran rear wiper blade and arm which I have fitted:

16529461389_c1a3aaf365_z.jpg

I think it looks a little sleaker than the Fabia set:

Planning to go the Ultimate Dubs 2015 next weekend so have given her a clean up. Nothing OTT just wash and wax:

16527652748_b7b203cc67_z.jpg

I am on nights before the week of Ultimate Dubs so I will give her a wash and full detail in my breaks and then hopefully fit the discs and pads as soon as I get time :)

Update - 10 Mar 15

So not much done this week but did manage to blow the boot hose of from the EGR valve yesterday just as I was about to hit the M4! Must not have pushed the pipe back far enough when I put the clip back on so it hadn't caught the lugs. Doh!!

Had a good chat with Darkside Developments and The Phirm about my camshaft replacement and getting to the point where I can stage 1 my lady Leon!

On night from tomorrow so some detailing will be done ready for Ultimate Dubs 2015 this weekend :D

So pretty much been working my backside off of late and so she has just been the usual daily drive. Had some new rims and Goodyear Eagle F1's fitted to her last week :) Pic's to follow

Then blew the pancake pipe connection off on the way home yesterday. :( So LCR pancake pipe ordered and all the silicone hose and clips to put it all back together. At the moment she is being held together by steel wire and clips so having to take it easy.

Sorry to reopen an old thread, but can anyone tell me please how you identify an FR+ ?
I'm hoping to see a car tomorrow which I suspect might be one as it is 55 plate (don't know reg date yet) Cupra r front bumper and wheels and I think the cloth interior is different to standard - I've noticed the pattern is normally slanted but in this it appears to be tiny cheques if that makes sense.
Thanks
