i've spent ages searching but haven't found what i'm looking for!

i have a new kenwood head unit and an old CD changer i want to put in. i'm having trouble working out where is going to be best to mount the changer (too big for the glovebox) so it needs to go in the boot

i'm wondering what is behind the carpet in the boot?

Has anyone else mounted a changer in the boot? i don't want to go drilling holes where i shouldn't so could use some advice )

thanks

I went for a 6 disc Alpine and retrofitted it in the space the OE changer came from to bypass this issue.

Can't you screw mount into the rear seats with shallow self tappers as then you are not at risk of hitting wiring, compromising the floor (and exposing yourself to leaks or rusting), or drilling into something you shouldn't?

don't think that will work the changer has to be mounted flat, standing straight or at a 45 degree slant (there is a dial on the side which has to be set to tell the changer which way up it is

plus, it will be in the way when i lay the seats flat

Some VAG cars have the multichanger mounted inside the rear lip of the boot (effectively stood up on its end). Does your changer have a facility for this kind of mounting?

This isn't a VW picture but gves you a flavour of what I mean:
