Thanks to SEAT UK's very generous Press Office, SCN have been loaned a brand new LCR wrapped in matte black vinyl. The offer went to the three admins and fortunately for me the two Marks very kindly let me take one for the team and live with the burden of driving SEAT's fastest ever production car over a long bank holiday weekend and for most of next week.
I thought it might be of interest to forum members if I kept up a small diary of the week. Nothing particularly in depth, hence I don't think it will justify a feature on the main site, but we'll see how it pans out.
A quick bit of background to my previous experience with the MK2 and the LCR can be found here as well as both Mark's views on the LCR in the first UK test drive, in case you missed it.
Note: Black Matte This is not available to order on the car - a local firm wrapped the car for SEAT as a one off.
So without further ado..... day one begins....
DAY1
In preparation I had today off work
I was told that the R would be delivered to my house before midday so you can imagine I was like a kid at Christmas pacing up and down, looking out the window, jumping at every sound that might have been someone at the door.
In the end I saw the car pull up outside the house at around 10am.
I was interested to see the matte black finish in the flesh having previously seen a MK2 pictured on the forum (apologies to the member, I can't find your pictures at the moment).
I went (burst) outside to meet the nice man who had driven the car all the way from London to me. We had a quick chat about the car and his drive over and I offered him a lift to the train station (not because I'm nice you understand - I just wanted to get behind the wheel)
Slipping into the leather of the driver's seat I was reminded how nice the interior is with the extra gloss touches. The car also had the full spec, including Sat Nav.
I took it steady on the way to the station, but was reminded of the great sound in the cabin when you put your foot down. I'd missed that sound.
After dropping the chap off I decided to pop over to Holders (my local dealer) as they are not far from the station. I know the staff there well, including the Dealer Principle and they were all interested in seeing the car as their demo model was still a couple of weeks away.
The colour certainly caused a lot of interest with customers also walking over to have a look.
An area manager was in having some work done on his car and we had a brief chat about the car and the forum.
Not before too long my wife arrived with son in tow in her ibiza and we headed in convoy to do some shopping - my son excited about driving in the R.
On the way back to the car an old chap walked up to me and said "that's an interesting colour" and I explained it was wrap (and not my car!). Thirty seconds later, a young lad in the car next to me said it looked great and asked if it was cheaper than a respray. He was hoping to get his (quite old fiesta) done in the same colour too.
After lunch we headed into Bristol as I had a meeting to go to. I had a chance to stretch the car's legs on some of the country lanes on the way and I got the addiction to floor the pedal back again, just to hear the roar as it accelerates. Sweeeet.![Cool [B)] [B)]](/forums/styles/seatcupra/oldforumsmileys/shades.gif)
Later in the day we stopped off to take some photos of my car with the R up at work - some of which you can see in this post.
The car's now tucked up safely ready for the wife to take it out tomorrow so there won't be much of an update from me tomorrow. However we're on a bit of a road trip on Sunday so watch this space......
