some shocking driving in the video!!! Well done that he can get through the snow but still quite ASBO driving...

It's honestly not how it looks... It was a very long straight, with the other cars travelling at approx 30mph, I speeded up the footage as it was a boring section of the vid otherwise.

I just played it back and I can see what you mean though!

Maybe I need to remove that bit, or at least slow it down to normal speed...

alright alright ;-) I trust your colleague doesn't drive like tool :)

Its just personally, winter tyres or not, I wouldn't be driving around cars like this. It looked like a quite serious white out though oO

I have a 2008 1.4TSI Leon which has about 50,000km including 3 summers and 2,5 winters :D on it.
I'm running 225/45/17 Bridgestone Blizzak Nordic's (mud &snow tyres, not with spikes) as winter tyres. They are designed to work best in Scandinavian winter conditions.

I live in Finland and we have variety of winter weather conditions in here. Sometimes near zero and icy roads, sometimes like now, we have lots of snow (about 70cm) which means there is lot of snow on the roads also. Two weeks ago it was -26 celsius and yesterday only -2 celsius... nice. :D
This means that driving is somewhat challenging at times but Leon handles it really nicely compared to some other cars. Even though my tyres are pretty used, about 5mm left compred to new one with 8-9mm...

I have driven different cars with different types of winter tyres all my life and the fact is that tyres play a big role and if you have snow or ice under them when driving, you should also have proper tyres to go with the weather. Summer tyres with winter conditions = disaster. And bad winter tyres are also as useless as good summer tyres.

Winter Tyres

I've just bought a Leon based partly on the fact I had a brand new set of winter tyres which would fit and I didn't want them to go to waste.

I have yet to fit them to this car but the car they came off was completely different to drive in the snow and ice on the winter tyres.

It wasn't so much traction which suprised me as the car was an Impreza but it was the stopping which was so impresssive. I was able to stop on a steep hill, to spread some salt on the only road into the village, only to find I couldn't stand up without holding onto the car.

I was completely astonished and would definately suggest the use of winter tyres in snow and ice as well as in low temperatures.

I think they work great :)

it is little to low but haven't had any big problems driving in the snow with mine :)

Now that's what I call snow, not the little sprinkling we get in Essex, although I have to say I have pirelli p zero's and have had no trouble what so ever ;)
