havent decided on a turbo yet but will probably be the 28rs .86. manifold is the top mount T25 one from backdraft.

yeah i agree the 1.8t is quite easy to work on. i work in a garage and got an autodata system so all the torque settings are on there i think. i've never rebuilt a 1.8t before so learning new things there!

will be picking up my crank bearings and head gasket set tomorrow so should be rebuilt by the weekend i hope!

got a bit done today. firstly i picked up my headgasket set, head bolts and crank bearings this afternoon, then headed down to the engineering shop to pick up my head then took it all to my work. started with getting the head built up and now thats complete. manifold is now bolted up! then honed the bores, cleaned out the oil jets and refitted them, replaced the crank main + thrust bearings (had alot of confusion about this!!), fitted the crank and torqued it down with new stretch bolts, and to finish i fitted the front and rear crank oil seals. started to get late so decided to call it a day. will go back to it tomorrow to gap the piston rings, fit pistons and rods, fit oil pump and clean pick up, and fit the head to the block :)

few pics i got.............(wont be using the blue rocker cover in the pics as got a black one!!)

big update..........

well the engine is rebuilt now (apart from the cambelt). gapped the piston rings, fitted pistons and rods, oil pump etc. head bolted on and all torqued. wanted to get the engine in the bay before new year but lack of funds will delay this. just need cambelt kit, water pump and engine mounts before i can fit it.

also just about finished the battery relocation. just got to bolt the battery tray down and fit a new starter motor cable. got rid of the battery and power steering brackets aswell so should look a lot tidier which means trying to mount the reservoir somewhere else!

few pics...

moved the engine on friday to the workshop where the car is. bolted everything back onto it so it's nearly ready to be fitted! just got to get some uprated engine mounts and it can go in :) . pretty much finished the battery relocation. cage is now bolted in. just need an earth cable and a new starter motor cable. also vacuumed the interior and greased up the front seat sliders as was quite difficult to move them.

few pics of the engine

cheers mate. been keeping an eye on yours! looks good! cage refers to the battery cage (sorry forgot to put battery in front of it). would like to get a roll cage though!

got all my battery relocation stuff from the links on the sticky thread on here! apart from the battery cage and battery cable which i got off ebay.

got a little more done today. fitted my gas bonnet struts, oil catch tank, in line fuel pump, battery earth cable, rear seats and new car mats. didn't manage to get any pics so will take some more in the week. also tested my secondary water pump as haven't heard it for months!! buzz's a little bit so im guessing its on its way out?? new ones seem to be quite expensive though!
