diesels don't get tested for emissions, only opacity/smoke level,,,
plus if you do unweld and reweld the emptied cat along its seams it will be quite difficult to be evident that you've opened it up unless you jack the car up,,,

I got pulled by the police (VOSA i think thats what they are called) into the weighbridge on the way to work once and they tested my car for emissions the day after i had my cat back fitted, im glad i didnt have a decat fitted aswell and its also a good job i gave it a good blasting out before that and got rid of all the soot.

are you sure it didn't get tested just for smoke???

This is fitted to one of our customers car with Nitros and has had no issues with this and he has also done a few drag starts too.

my 2 cents

I know alot of people just want a remap and don't want to think about anything else (aka...clutchs, turbos, etc), but in my opinion anyone who's even thinking about a remap/chip for your TDI should also think about IMO 3 fundamental upgrades:
-clutch
-oil cooler
-brakes

clutch for obvious reasons, oil cooler to keep the oil happy (max temp when booting rises normally +30ºC), brakes because you need to stop.

got the brakes already ( probbaly a little ott) clutch will play by ear, oil cooler no need for just a remap.

There are people out there that have done many many miles with the origional clutch.
But if you are heavy with them then we can offer them.
So it would not mean that if you was to have a remap you need one.
It means you will have to use the gears more.

me with just a remap never felt the need for an oil cooler,,, but then I drive very conservatively,,, I just once had the occasion to keep 200/220km/h for some minutes during the summer and the oil temp rose quite high,,, more than 120°C but I don't think you drive 220+km/h for hours paulo,,, or do ya???

Remember that it's also a function of the boost your running. If I run 5 minutes at around 210-220km/hr, I will hit 160ºC oil temp and >100ºC diesel temps (causing the ECU to cut back). It also happens with 1 lap of the Estoril circuit during trackdays.

I did say it was only my opinion..

I get your point paulo,,, but still with a map I'd go first for an IC to lower the intake temps,,, then eventually I'd go for an oil cooler or fuel cooler,,,
